Morning or Evening?

Hi Guys!
I was wondering whether its best for you to do your workout in the morning as soon as you wake up or after work?
Ive been doing it usually at 6pm when I finish but this morning I got up nice and early and did it before coming in. Its nice to know that I have now done it and can go home later and chill, but im not sure which one is better for me physically as in the morning I do it before I even have breakfast, just water during the workout.
Any ideas or advice?
Thanks
Aimee

I don't have an answer, but I am curious to see what folks say. I am a mom of an active 3 year old. This allows me for not much time during the day. I get full and well rounded workouts at night between 11pm and 2am. I do like falling asleep freshly showered and enjoying the good pulse of a workout in my muscles. So what say you, MFPers?0

That all depends on the person. For me I get a great Strong workout in the morning. If I wait or try to do it late I am to exhausted and may not have a good workout or I may not do it at all. I have become a morning workout person. I would rather get up and do it before everything Get it done, get it out of the way. Plus most of the time you feel so much better for getting it done. You feel energized and ready for your day.
Everyone is different and so is there schedule. If you can do it in the morning I would suggest to do it then. Plus you wake up the body.0 -
Both.
Either.
It doesn't really matter.
Do what fit's into your lifestyle, work patterns, family commitments etc.0 -
Im a single mom.. so it can be tough.. for me I found it works best to do a 30 min workout in the morning when my lil one (1 1/2 yr old) is eating breakfast and than I do a 1 hr workout in the evening when he goes to bed around 9pm0

I read somewhere that exercising at night can disrupt sleep patterns. I prefer to get up & do it early, gets me going for the day. Mentally it's better for me physically i don't think theres a difference. Also i find if i wait til evening i'm more likely to skip workouts saying i've had a busy day, too tired, cooking to do etc but if i get up i have no excuse not to. I think it's a personal thing i doubt it makes any difference to your body.0

I actually like to do it in the middle of the day. I find i have more energy for the work out and then the energy afterwards keeps me going. I walk outside and around the parking lot a few times in the middle of the night it wakes me up and keeps me up0

From what I understand morning is the best before you eat, but I just fit it in when ever I can. Better at night than not at all.0

I usually do a 30 min workout each morning after the kids leave for school to get my metabolism going. Then when hubby gets home in the evening i do another hour or so. I have noticed that i do have trouble falling asleep if i do it too close to bedtime though because i am all hyped up.0

I don't know if there's one magic "right" time to workout or not. I think the key is to choose a time that will work for you and when you are most likely to go workout. I go in the evening after dinner, because I have to be to work early when I work and I don't like to get up extra early...I just can't make myself do it! Do whatever works the best for YOU and YOUR life!=)0

I always read and hear morning before you eat, but I can NOT do that. I would die from no energy. So, I think morning after a small protein breakfast is best. I feel great the rest of the day if I do that as well.0

Me too - where I work I'm lucky that there are lunchtime exercise classes and we're encouraged to be healthy so I do that a couple of times a week, so or do a very brisk 40 min walk in my lunch break. If I'm not at work, I do something mid/late morning before lunch.0
