If I eat quite over my calories on one day (say 300 over), does this mean the next day I should eat 300 under recommended or should i just continue to eat normally as per MFP's recommendations and try to forget about falling off the wagon?
i find that if i try to eat under calories the day after a binge, this just creates a cycle....but i dont want to be sabotaging by not compensating the next day!
thanks!

You have the right idea that it will create a binge/purge type of relationship.
You asked what you should do? Treat that day as a learning experience and try to do better the next day. Learn to avoid the things that trigger your over eating and you will lose in a healthy, happy way.0 -

look in the past topics, there are plenty of posts on this to research on here.
Don't do it, don't make it a habit, don't over compensate tomorrow, exercise and work hard and follow your calories.
You know whats wrong to eat, there are very few surprise foods compared to what you know is bad.
This site needs only ONE thing from you, will power!
IF you can't give that, then you won't succeed.
I know it sounds simple, but just stop binging.
When you feel the urge, do something active or drink water.
These are the most common responses.
I hope this helps.

hi there !
your body doesnt work in a 24h cycle.. it lives on the moment,, if your under one day thats ok ... dont do it everyday ..but i think that it will help your body guessing ... witch is good..
there is some people out there that say its ok to do it .. like wieght watchers and such .. it gives you more flexibilty and in the long term will help you stick with your plan ..
so id say .. its ok to be under or over by a little bit once in a while..dont try to make up for it !
hope that helped !

This is exactly right. For this to be permanent, you need to really work on changing your lifestyle and changing your relationship with food. Not letting it control your life and stressing out about it all like that. It takes sheer force of will to get used to a new way of living but after the first few weeks, it does get easier and then you will feel sick at the thought of binging. :happy:0 -
I have had that happen to me as well. I have done my best to write everything down. It helps me see a pattern.
* Did I wait too long between meals and therefore let my blood sugar drop too low. That'll make one very hungry and gobble everything in site.
* Did I eat way too many simple carbs? Another culprit that triggers hunger.
* Am I drinking enough water ... not diet sodas, or diet drinks ... I mean water!!! Sometimes one thinks they are hungry and really need water.
*Am I bored or upset or stressed, worried or a combination of of emotional baggage?
* Have I taken my vitamins for the day. Fish oil is a great supplement that cuts my sugar cravings. As Vitamin C ( I take 6,000 mg daily 2 in the Am 2 at noon and 2 at dinner) Also, Gymnemia Sylvestre is a wonderful herb that zaps the sugar cravings Marvelously!!
* Am I moving! Yes, exercising.
* Are you eating high fiber foods? Beans, fibrous veggies and fruits. Fiber keeps you satisfied and full.
You could take a tablespoon of Ground fax seeds or some psyllium.
Ask yourself "What triggers this?" and then plan your strategy.
You can do it. You'll be learning about yourself... what your strengths are and what your're weaknesses are.0 -
maybe increase on the exercise a little bit?
