Hello Ladies!
Thank you for joining the Diamonds in the Rough 7 Week Challenge. Unlike other challenges, this challenge is asking for your DAILY INVOLVEMENT as a member of a team. I partnered you with consideration of your fitness goal and your age. We have 22 ladies and 11 awesome teams!
Please message your buddy at least once per day, starting TODAY! What should you say? Everything! By the end of seven weeks you two should feel that you know each other and can support each other in your fitness goals.
Diamonds in the Rough Guidelines:
- Write as much as possible when writing to your buddy and in the forum, we are in this together!
- Please MESSAGE me (karlajamaica) your weight LOSS on or before Monday of each week. Any day is fine.
- Support, support, support! Who can’t use a home court advantage? Let’s cheer each other on!
IMPORTANT NOTE
In order to maintain some order on the forum, I will close the forum and start a new one every Monday. So, look for “Diamonds in the Rough – Week 1” etc. each week.

QUESTION OF THE DAY!
Good morning and happy Tuesday Diamonds!
Hopefully most of you have now contacted your new fitness buddy! Talking to a stranger can be tough sometimes, so check back here for daily questions and conversation topics. Post your answers here or use them to share with your buddy! Let's lose those pounds!
Question of the Day:
What is a lesson that you have learned since starting your weight-loss journey that you wish you knew on the first day?
My Answer:
I wish I had known more about the effect of sodium and water retention. I only recently learned that weight significantly due to salt intake.
Keep Shining Diamonds!0 -
Morning Ladies!
My Answer:
One thing I've learned is that quality of calories matters more than quantity of calories. I can eat volumes of highly nutritious, satisfying foods that just happen to be low calorie. I don't count calories. I only measure food to keep track of how much I need to feel satisfied.0 -
I didn't realize how quickly you can consume unnecessary calories until I started to seriously log everything I ate0
-
Hello Everyone
Terrfic Tuesday
I Realised i was drinking way less water
Wow lot of water to drink but i thought i can do it for me to be healthy and have good skin :happy:0 -
I guess how much food I over eat and that portion control is the biggest factor for me.0

I need feedback!
Happy Wednesday ladies! I hope that you all are having a positive, productive week thus far. For those of you who may have had a bumpy start (myself included), why not vow to do a mid-week turnaround?
I am writing to ask for your feedback. How is the partner pairing going? How can this group best satisfy your needs? Please feel free to shoot me a private message if you don't want to share on this forum.
Also, as a reminder, you don't have to wait until Wednesday to send in your weight loss if Wednesday is not your weigh-in day. Just be sure to be consistent.
Question of the Day:
What was the final straw that finally spurred this weight loss journey?
My response:
One day I woke up and realized that I didn't have a single pair of jeans that fit... not even my "fat jeans'. That was it.
Keep Shining Diamonds!0 -
Question of the Day:
What was the final straw that finally spurred this weight loss journey?
My response:
For me it started with "a series of unfortunate events." I think what topped it off was when I realized that my "fat" pants, which I once wore with the aid of safety pins, fit me snugly -- without the safety pins.0 -
Hello Ladies
Hope everyone had a wonderful wednesday me just messed up my cal with taco bell grilled burrito
But tommorow will be good day
Question of the Day:
What was the final straw that finally spurred this weight loss journey?
My response: i guess when i saw my picture which i took 2 yrs ago i was 25 pounds less( i looked  ) copied that picture on my cell and start seeing it n realised have to get back to that weight again
And My team partner Falicia is gr8 she is great support for me luv to be with her on this journey0 -
Hey everyone! I'm here!!! I'm sorry I haven't been around. I'm on vacation this week and running all over the place. I will be checking in and answering all these questions soon. Yes, I WILL go back and answer them all! But I have to take my daughter to Disney now. I'll be back to normal starting Sunday!!!0

Sorry, I haven't been checking back into this post.. I missed the questions of the day. I am a day late but I would like to answer yesterday's question.
What was the final straw that finally spurred this weight loss journey?
I hate the way I look in pictures. I want some pictures of me and my girls.. We have none and I have put it off for 5 years now..
I was barely 120 lbs when I started have my kids. I don't want to be that small again but my goal is 130 lbs.
ME, MY PARTNER KATHY, AND ALL OF THE OTHER DIAMONDS ARE GOING TO REACH OUR GOALS!! KEEP SHINING LADIES!0 -
Good Morning Ladies! Let's have a Thirsty Thursday. Celebrate St. Patricks Day by drinking a lot... of water of course!
Question of the Day:
Finish this sentence, "I could not make it through this weight loss journey without [this item of food] ______________________"
My response:
I could not make it through this weight loss journey without Quaker Instant Oatmeal. I eat this stuff at LEAST once a day!

Question of the Day:
Finish this sentence, "I could not make it through this weight loss journey without [this item of food] ______________________"
GOOD MORNING! I had to think hard about this question. I think my answer is egg whites. Low cal, low carb, and filling. In the mornings when I am really hungry, boiled egg whites or an egg white veggie omelette will do the trick.
Have a great day!0 -
I couldn't make it through this journey without Better Oats Oatmeal, flaxseed and frozen veggies0

Happy Friday Diamonds! Let's end the week on a positive note!
IMPORTANT: PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOUR PARTNER HAS BEEN NON-RESPONSIVE!
It happens, you sign up for a challenge but then can't follow through. Maybe your schedule won't allow it.... etc. Don't worry, we understand! Please let me know if you can't follow through with this challenge or if your partner has bailed.
I just want to re-partner those who are still committed!
We already have one lonely chica without a partner, so if you are another... let me know!!! As always, private messages are fine.
Question of the Day:
Finish this sentence: "Once I lose the weight I will..."
My Response:
Once I lose the weight I will keep it off, do lots of shopping, do lots of shopping... and did I mention do lots of shopping?
Keep Shining!

Once I lose the weight I will....WEAR SHORTS! I mean "above the knees" shorts...even on the hottest days, I only wear capris because I am so self concious about my fat legs..0

Hey everyone! I'm back from vacation!! I didn't make the best food choices while I was on vacation, didn't log at all, and I didn't do any actualy workouts, but I did walk A LOT!! I will be weighing in tomorrow morning to assess the damage, since this morning I was in a hotel room and couldn't.
Tuesday's Question:
What is a lesson that you have learned since starting your weight-loss journey that you wish you knew on the first day?
Answer: I wish I had realized early on that this is not a "diet" with an end goal/stopping point, that this is a lifelong effort that I would need to maintain, and that achieving goals only means that new goals need to be set and worked towards. For so long I looked at any fitness/diet attempts as a temporary thing, and it took me far too long to realize that it truly is a lifestyle change, not a solution to a problem that once achieved just doesn't have to be thought about any longer.
Wednesday's Question:
What was the final straw that finally spurred this weight loss journey?
Answer: I actually managed to lose 55 lbs at one point, and I gained it back because I went through a severe depression. Now that I am back to normal mentally, and I feel motivated again, I'm just trying to get back to it! Initially I was moved to change when my doctor wrote "obese" on my chart. I knew that I needed to lose some weight, but I never would have thought I fell into the obese category. I was 220 lbs @ 5'7", and I carry weight well, so most people had no idea I was over 200 lbs and didn't believe me when I told them that I was, so I just didn't fit the image I had in my mind of "obese".
Thursday Question:
I could not make it through this weight loss journey without...
Answer: This is actually really hard for me. There isn't just one food that I must have in order to keep on track. The key for me is to allow myself to splurge occassionally so that I don't binge and keeping my house stocked with good, healthy options so that I always have something good to pick when I need a snack. Though I have found steel cut oats with a tbsp of agave nectar to be ridiculously satisfying and filling... and so long lasting.
Friday Question:
Once I lose the weight I will...
Answer: I hadn't thought much about it. I don't have any *rewards* set for myself. I don't want to just be skinny, I want to be strong, so maybe I will start setting some real fitness goals rather than weight goals once I lose enough. Though I know I could just start doing that now, but I don't want to overwhelm myself.
I'm really sorry I haven't been around. I love this challenge, and I really hope it does us all some real good. This week really was an exception, since I was on vacation. Usually even if I'm not on a computer I will check in regularly from my phone, but since during vacation I was spending large amounts of time away from my charger, I had to make sure my battery lasted! I'll be here every day now, probably multiple times and for extended periods of time!!!0 -

Thank you Sarah (satojekabe)!
I'm glad you mentioned making a healthy lifestyle a lifelong commitment. I have a lot of confidence that I will meet my fitness/weight loss goals, but I have some questions about how to make it permanent. Obviously, I should continue to monitor what I eat, but I am very curious about what truly sets apart those who keep it off and those who regain. I mean, who doesn't PLAN to keep the weight off? I guess I have plenty of time to get answers to those questions/concerns.
I carry my weight well too, and I often get the "no way" reply when I tell people my weight... but my jeans say "yes way", lol!
I see that oatmeal is a popular choice! So much for my personal secret! Lol. Hope you had a great time on vacation girlie!0 -
Don't forget today is weigh in day ladies! Please message me your loss! If you were stagnant or gained I won't include it in my announcement, but let me know!0
-
Did your partner weigh in?
Hey ladies, I am still missing a ton of weigh-ins! Please nudge your partner and remind them to message me their loss or a little message saying "no loss this week" something like that! Thanks!0 -
