Hi everyone! I'm Jade. I am so happy that my doctor recommended me to MFP because I have a lot of weight to lose! At 21 i am at my heaviest (344 lbs) and I am definately ready to get on the right track for my health. My long term goal weight is 200 lbs. That is still about 25 lbs. more than my supposed "ideal body weight" but I will be happy with 200lbs. My problem up until now has probably been lack of conviction and discipline. I have made tiny attempts at dieting but with no success because I always end up fallin off the wagon after only a few days because I get too lazy to prepare a proper meal. That is one habit I am really trying to break. I believe that eating more balanced home cooked meals, as opposed to fast food, would greatly benefit me.
The main thing motivating me to finally lose my weight is probably fertility. I really want to be a mother some day but My doctor told me that any attempt to get pregnant at my weight could be very dangerous. My Husband and I really want to be parents one day, but If, for some reason, that does not happen I dont want it to be because I refused to take care of myself. And If we are able to start a family, I want to be able to play with my children and have the energy to keep up with them. Another motivator, is of course the desire to be attractive. I have a wonderful husband who constantly tells me that I am beautiful, but even he admits that I am very unhealthy. I dont want to get to the point where he stops finding me attractive, and I dont want him to be embarrassed to be seen with me. though he has never made me feel like that is the case, I have seen people give him strange looks when we go out places. My husband is a good looking guy. ( the kind of guy i never thought would even look at me) so i can only imagine that people probably think "what is a guy like that doing with her?" My most embarassing moment was just after he and I started dating our senior year and another girl told him that she thought it was sweet that he was dating me despite my weight. ( I believe the word she used to describe him was a "chubby chaser")
Well those are just a few of the reasons that I am here. I am really looking forward to finally getting my weight under control.

Welcome to the MFP - I've only been here a couple of weeks myself, but I loooove it. If I thought food was addictive to eat, logging my food and writing fun motivations for my friends is just as bad. I hope you get suckered into the thick of things - everyone I've met so far is super supportive and motivations, it really makes you want to stick to your guns.
Good luck as you start your journey, it sounds like you have a lot of great reasons to work on shedding those pounds!0 -
