I have a Polar FT7, my wife paid around 80-90 bucks for it, its easy to use and I would recommend it.0

Polar FS100 is what I use. It has a chest strap and the arm piece has a watch, calorie counter, timers, and a few other bells and whistles. For distance when walking or running, I love it. It is $109.99 and can be found at sports stores as well as online. I usually use an app on my phone which is measuring using GPS.0

I have a Garmin HRM & I love it!0

There are lots of threads on this topic. A quick search will yield plenty of information.
One basic point to remember: Get a chest strap! They are far more accurate than just the watch-style monitors.
I have a Polar FT4, which has been accurate. Not a whole lot of bells and whistles, but it does what I need it to do. $60 on Amazon when I got it.0 -
I just bought the Polar FT7, it was $109 at Best Buy in my area...and I used it for the first time today. Very easy to set up; very comfortable to wear. I've heard very great things about the Polar series, so i decided to give it a try, and I am not disappointed.
oh yes, whatever brand/model you do get, a chest strap will give you the most accurate results.0 -
I did a LOT of research and talked with my fitness friends and decided on the Polar F7. Polar has been around for a long time, it was reasonable (around $100), has the chest strap (which is FAR more comfotable than I anticipated) and is quite easy to use!0

I've had the Polar FT4 for about 1 month (give or take), and I love it. It was about 89 dollars at best buy (not including tax). It shows my hear rate (obviously), my HR range, how long I've been working out, and calories burned. That's pretty much it, which is nice because that's all I really wanted. I definitely suggest this to anyone looking to purchase it! (and yes, it has a chest strap)0

I have a Timex brand from Amazon. I like it and it's not too hard to figure out.

I went with the Polar FT4, basically the same as the FT7 but it was about $20 cheaper on sale. I LOVE it!0
