I have been HATING my body so much that I got rid of all my full length mirrors in my house. All my mirrors are from mid-chest length and up. I couldn't stand looking at myself or how my clothes fit.

But now, I think it is about that time, get one back in my house. I have a new found motivation and love for myself today. I am nowhere near my goal weight but I can see my body changing and a full length mirror will help me see my transformation in all it's glory.

I no longer hate my body, I don't love it either but the hate is slowly leaving me and it is because I am giving 100% effort and because of that I can be proud and look in that mirror. Full length mirror here I come!!

I think it's really important to try and find one thing every time you look in that mirror to compliment yourself on. I am really getting better at it. I look in the mirror in the morning, "You have beautiful eyes" then the next time "Your hair has personality." Both things that will help raise my self esteem. You are not defined by the number on a scale, you are beautiful just how you are!

Don't get rid of full length mirrors. Angle them about 80*. You will look so much thinner

Your post reminded me of a poem I heard on Oprah many years ago, but have never been able to shake. I had to go find it after reading what you’ve written here:

    SOME ME OF BEAUTY
    By Carolyn Rodgers

I took a good long look at myself in a full length mirror
Sometimes it’s good to look in a full length mirror
And what I saw was not some soul sister poetess of the moment
But I saw just a woman
    Just a woman feeling
    Just a woman human
    And what I felt was
What I felt was a spiritual revelation
And what I felt was a root revival of some love coming on
    Coming on strong
And I knew then, looking in a full length mirror,
    That many things were over
And some me of beauty was about to begin

You could have been talking about me! I have been so uncomfortable with my body the last 20 years, that I stopped trying on clothes when shopping. The day I began this journey the first thing I decided to do was to look in a full length mirror every night. I needed to see who I was.... to know who I wanted to become! So glad you're going to that mirror!
