Map My Walk

Options
Has anyone used www.mapmywalk.com?

I used it today. Walked 4 miles in 65 minutes. It said i burned 258 calories walking 3.9 miles an hour. Well in MFP it says 4.0 very brisk pace is around 400 calories. Big difference.

When I walk ...I run, jog, move my arms, dance. It is not just walking. sometimes I even go slow.

I have been at a plataeu and I am wondering if I am not calculating right.

Please advise me you wise wonderful people I see on here! :flowerforyou:

The MFP is stating a speed of 4.0 mph NOT 4.0 miles. This is where your numbers are coming out different. Hope this helps. Do you have a HRM (heart rate monitor)? That would give you the most accurate numbers.

I use map my run and it's always way off from MFP so I'm not sure I ususally use the lower of the 2 to be safe

Sorry! I guess I should have clarified that I knew it meant MPH not Miles walked! :blushing:

I did have a heart rate monitor. I changed the battery and only the time works now. It was a watch one. It always said I was higher in calories burned than MFP but when I put in the "correct" amount I stalled on the weight loss!

I don't know! I am soooo confused! :ohwell:

I have tried map my run and it does give me different number than mfp. I always use the lower just to be sure. I am thinking about investing in a heart rate monitor so that I can track my progress and have a better sense of my calories burned.
By the way - Banks wrote a great piece on platues a while back! There can be so many reasons and I think we all go through it! Hang in there. Your perseverance will pay off!

I use mapmyride.com and it's always way off both MFP and my HRM--I only use my HRM to account for exercise calories.

Thanks all! I have decided that since I walk/run and one is 400 calories and one is 200 that I would split the difference and put it at 300. I hope it works! :)
