Hi All,

I am planning on starting 30 Day Shred tonight. How do I calculate my calories burned without a heart rate monitor? Thanks!

I log it as circuit training general. But I do have a HRM and my burn is a bit higher than Circuit training gives you but its not a bad guide. I burn around 300 cals and I'm 5ft9.5 and 154 lbs if that helps.

I've been entering it as circuit training , general for 20 minutes for every level. Good Luck with level 1. Expect some soreness but it does get better every day.
  • I'm not sure how to answer how question, but I've done the 30 day shred and I love the work outs. I didn't carry through the 30 days, but I started it to see what exercises Jillian has you do. I incorporate them in daily activity. You can see a strength difference within just a few days. I also used 5# hand weights.

I have been using calistenics vigorous effort. It was the closest to my HRM.

I agree put it in as circuit training. I have a HRM and am doing the 30 DS and I burn around 200 calories during the workout. I'm 5'7" 172.

Great! Thank you everyone! Also, I am doing it as my 3rd workout of the day today.. I ran 20 min this morning, did 35 minutes of eliptical in the afternoon, and then I'm gonna do 30 day shred tonight. Do most of you do it as your sole/primary workout? Or is it more of an addition to your regular workout? I typically do a 20 minute run and 45 or 60 minutes on the elliptical so today the time adds up to about the same for me.
