i love granola but i find that the store bought brands either have unnatural ingredients or are ridiculously expensive. plus, i like to make my own food so i know exactly what's going into it. so i really want to start making my own granola. anyone have great healthy recipes for homemade granola???

Lots of great recipes out there, but just remember that granola is still VERY calorie dense, even if you make your own. A little goes a long way.

chow.com has some great recipes, as does cooking light. If you're concerned about the calorie density, play around with the ingredients after you get comfortable with the basic recipe. A great way to add low calorie bulk is to swap out some of the oats for whole puffed wheat or rice. They're sold with the 'bag cereal' in the breakfast isle. Sugar's the other calorie culprit, but like all other sweet things, once you get used to less sugar you barely miss it.
