I have a super horrible habit of snacking my way through the day. It's horrible, because I eat crappy stuff. Since I tell myself that I'm just "snacking," I allow myself to have a cookie here, a chip there, a few M&Ms everywhere! Grrr...

So, I'm going to try to psych myself out. I've renamed the meals in my Food Diary to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th meals with time limits in place. By viewing my snacks as mini-meals, I'm hoping to convince myself to make healthier choices. The truth is that I'm simply not really a "big meal" type of person. I'd much rather be able to munch my way through the day. I just need to make myself munch in a healthy manner.

So, my previous diary entries are gonna look pretty silly now, but I don't care. :) I'm super hopeful for how this will help me view my eating habits.

I did something similar...I eat 5 times a day, roughly every 3 hours...and I named my food times 9-10 am, 12-1 pm, etc

it seems to help...also, someone told me anytime you put too foods together, it is a meal (that might not help you with the chips or m&m's)...but even if I eat peppers with hummus...that's my meal

red and yellow peppers with hummus has been a great meal-snack for me the past few days...had no idea how filling it would be

feel free to check out my food diary if you want to see how the 5 food times has been working for me

    good luck...hope this helps!

if you have a snacking habbit, try to keep fresh cut up veggies or fruits on hand- or even the 100 calorie packs. That way if you dont feel like you are hungry enough for a whole meal but yous till want something to snack on, you can have something handy that wont ruin your diet.

Thanks, everyone. I keep the fresh fruit and veggies on hand, it's just that when I reach for a "snack" I still pick the unhealthy choice. (The unhealthy snacks are in the house for DH and children, who don't have weight issues.) I'm hoping that by viewing it as a meal, I'll choose healthy instead. I don't view chips and M&Ms as a meal. :) If I know that I'm supposed to be eating a meal, I'll be more likely to grab a fruit and a small sandwich or something like that.
