Protein in Pretzels? Who knew?

So I'm logging my calories on MFP and my small bag of Rold Gold Tiny Twist pretzels has 2 grams of protein? Who knew?
And fiber...one gram.

Are there hidden proteins in other foods? Got ideas? I'm trying to find protein in foods other than meat.

I love meat but am a little concerned about the mercury in fish and other things like hormones that are added to animals.

Thanks so much,
M

I recently turned vegan so getting enough protein is a nightmare! My new favorite is Quinoa! Lots of protein! I also fell in love with black bean soup... but beans are kind of a no brainer I guess.

Newman's Own has high protein pretzels... I think 5 grams of protein per serving. They are pretty good!

Due to major hormone treatments that I am on, I actually get very sick from too much hormones in food like beef (I seriously get sick within five minutes). Personally, I'm willing to pay the extra couple bucks a pound in order to get free range animals. They do not have the hormones and are really treated better in my opinion (thats neither here nor there).

I drink a protein drink (organic) called Orgain (the web site has the nutritional values, but amazon sells it cheaper). It has 16 grams of protein and a bunch of vitamins too.

Also, Special K Protein water mix had 5 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber.

I was shocked to find there are 7 grams of protein in my english muffin! I buy the Whole Foods 365 brand wheat muffins. The 365 flour tortillas have 5 grams of protein per serving.

Greek yogurt is also a protein powerhouse. Oikos brand (by Stonyfield Farms) has 15 grams in one little cup.

Brown rice has 5 grams per 1 cup cooked.

The Gluten that is a problem for people with Celiac Disease is actually the protein in wheat. If you don't have to be gluten free, you can get some protein from whole wheat products. Also, nuts, seeds, beans, and dairy are ways to get protein without meat.

There's actually a fantastic (in my opinion) vegetarian protein made out of wheat gluten, Seitan. Approximately 20g of protein per serving. Obviously not good for people who are gluten-intolerant, but for the rest of us, I find it quite tasty. Here's a recipe, if anyone's interested. (There are tons of recipes out there, but I've found this one so tasty it's the only one I use...)

Almonds and almond butter are my favorite non meat protein source!
Lowfat cottage cheese and greek yogurt are also excellent!
