My iron is routinely low. Aside from eating liver (I'd rather pull my own teeth out), what (tasty) foods would you recommend to meet daily iron requirements?

I mix a cup and a half of spinach, whey protein, and fruit OR peanut butter into a smoothie.

My mom and I both suffer with low iron counts in our blood - she likes to tell me how back in the day, the doctor "perscribed" her to eat red meat every day...how I wish I could do that!! I'm interested in these suggestions too, the smoothie sounds tastey!

I have the same problem, but I am on iron supplements because mine is so low. Here is a grea tlist brought to you by Google:

Meats are the best source. Tofu is high too. I'd recommend you take a vitamin if you are really low. I have this same issue. I use Floradix to get meet my iron needs. It is liquid and easier/faster to absorb. I know whole foods and amazon sell it.

Iron supplements are your best alternative.

I am borderline anemic. It runs in my family. I have a soft boiled egg every morning and always keep fresh baby spinach on hand. I like to add it to leftovers before I microwave them and to my salads. My daughter eats it straight out of the bag when she watches TV. Like popcorn! I also take an iron supplement everyday. I find I have more energy doing this.
