I like Scivation and Optimum Nutrition's whey protein powders. I've only had chocolate of both along with strawberry of ON. I like how both of them taste. Just read your labels to make sure you aren't getting too much added sodium or sugars to your powders.

Personally, I like Orgain. It is organic, tastes great, packed with all sorts of vitamins, and has been great for me personally. You can see their stuff on their website, but if you wan to buy it, I would recommend looking at amazons prices first, thats what I do.

i make my own, that way i know exaclty what i am putting in my body and it's easy. All you need is a blender. ingrediants:
    banana
    strwberries
    blueberries
    powdered flax seed
    fish oil
    couple scoops of lite yogurt
little bit of low fat milk
    a shot of vanilla
    little bit of equal sweetener

blend until like a smoothie. It's even cheaper if you use frozen fruit or sometimes I add canned peaches instead of a bannana.
  • I too use protein shakes as a meal replacement or snack. The two I use are High 5 Chocolate and/or High 5 Vanilla by Max Muscles. Another yummy one is Turbo Chocolate by GNC. They are both low in carbs, if mixed with water. I know the local Max Muscles store will let you sample interested products; I'm curious to try the High 5 Orange.

The P90X nutrition guide has extrememly high protein requirements for the 1st phase. 50% of your calories are to come from Protein. It is difficult to get that from lean meats and things so protein shakes are a good supplemental source. Try to get as much protein from real food as possible then have a shake if you need to get that littel extra.

In phase II you drop down to 40% of your calories from protein which is more manageable so I typically consume little in the way fo protein shakes.

    I use a Whey/Casein blend.

It is good to combine good carbs and essential protein in your shake......Bananas.....strawberries....oats....skim milk and a good protein powder. WHEY protein is best....just look for a powder that is low in fat and whatever tastes best to you. I personally like strawberry flavor, it tends to taste more natural than the others in my opinion. My protein shake is 1 cup skim milk, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup strawberries, 3 tbsp oats, 1 scoop whey protein, and 1 scoop ice. Its low in fat, moderate in carbs, and high in protein :) Hope this helps!

Sounds pretty good, but doesn't look like there's much protein in there though.

I'm a big fan of the Gold Standard 100% Whey Extreme Chocolate. Its the only one that i think doesn't taste like chalk :) I've also been making "breakfast cookies" instead of shakes lately and they are really yummy and keep you satisfied for a good amount of time. Mix together 1/3 cup natural rolled oats, 1/2 scoop of protein mix, and 1 tbsp nut butter (i like almond) then add 1 tbsp some kind of milk (I like unsweetened low fat almond milk) and some treats to mix in like some raisins or i like to chop up a few chocolate chips. Flatten it out and let it sit in the fridge overnight, the oats will soften and you'll have protein rich yummy deliciousness waiting for you after your morning workout :)

I usually just drink mine after weight lifting for muscle recovery, but sometimes for a quick snack.

I started using Whey Protein to curb my Liver Dumps from working out. Kind of have made it my breakfast meal when I work out.
