Does anyone have a clean recipe to make your own BBQ Sauce? I haven't found anything in the store. Same for Ketchup.

Tomato paste and spices to taste. Add whatever kind of spices you like.

Not sure what you mean by "clean" but I have a fantastic recipe I make all the time.

    Honey/Espresso BBQ Sauce:

    Olive Oil
A few cloves of Fresh Garlic
    1 cup ketchup
    1 cup honey
    1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
    1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup espresso or strong coffee

saute the garlic in a bit of olive oil (whatever quantity seems to work for you, I typically just do a splash). When that is browned, cool for a few minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer so it all comes together and thickens. 15 minutes -30 minutes.

This is a recipe from Michael Chiarello--one of his cookbooks, I can't remember which one.

    What makes it "clean?"

I prefer South Carolina style sauces: mustard, cider vinegar, brown sugar and spices.

Sadly, since starting my weight loss program, my BBQ pit has been real lonely. :(

I think she was looking for a replacement for the ketchup as it is mostly sugar and salt.

I use organic ketchup--the sugar % is not too bad....

Yep. Trying to get as close to natural as possible. Without adding salt, HFCS and sugar or other chemicals.

You can buy unsweetened ketchup at whole foods and its delicious!
The whole foods by me does not carry the unsweetened bbq sauce but it does exist.
    Check out netrition.com
I use Walden Farms Bbq sauce. No carbs or sugars! Its not the best tasting but its not that bad! It does the job! And it has no calories!
