Hey guys,

I signed up for MFP on 2/7/11 and have gone along without having any friends on here up until now. I've been going over my calories a lot and decided I need some friends on here to help hold myself accountable!

I'm new to running and am coming up on week 7 of C25K. I think all the extra exercise I've been doing is causing me to get crazy hungry some days.

I'm looking for fellow runners (or anyone really) who would like to add me as a friend here on MFP. Thanks guys/gals.

I did c25k last fall and have run 4 races since then, now working on the Bridge to 10K with hopes of running the Lake Charles, LA Contraband 5 Miler in May. Sent a friend request!

Hi! I finished Nike's Walk to Run program which is similar to C25K. I guess the major difference between the two programs is that Nike's runs for 6 days a week for 12 weeks and C25K is 3 times a week for 9 weeks.

I've got a 4k on in May and a couple more during the year and 2 triathlons nearing the end of the year once I save up for a road bike as well :)

Feel free to send me a friend request!

Thanks for the friend adds everyone! I appreciate it!

    Babyprincess-
Last Friday was my 20 min. run. For me it has been all mental. If I go into it thinking I can't do it, I struggle. If I go in with a positive attitude I actually knock out these runs pretty easily. My fitness level has improved tremendously over the first 6 weeks, so what you feel now may not be as bad in a few weeks. Just stick with the program, it works!

I'm on week 5 of C25K. I'm not yet what I'd call a "runner" but I think I could qualify as a "friend who runs". I've sent a friend request.
I could definitely use all the support I can get from other runners as well, so anyone feel free to add me as well.

@BobbyDaniel: I grew up in Lake Charles in a family of athletes. I remember going to the Contraband Days (and every other) run each year, although I'm younger than everyone in my family, so only ever did the 1 mile runs and the swim across Lake Charles to the Civic Center for the triathlons . Thanks for the memories...

@babyprincess13 I agree that a lot of it is definitely mental. Don't skip your rest days, and go into every run thinking you absolutely can do it. If there are times when you want to quit before your interval is up, push through it and you will make it. Trust me if I haven't collapsed mid-run in the shape I'm in, you won't! And if you're just starting out, don't look too far ahead at the schedule. It's intimidating while you're at the beginning, and by the time you get to those longer runs, you'll be so much more ready than you are now, so you're just needlessly worrying yourself. Also, if you can find a buddy to run with, that helps too. I ran week 5 day 2 tonight with my nephew who is a runner and it was really helpful.

I'm doing a variation on C25k and am up to running 2.25 minutes at a time...would love to talk to other beginning runners who are starting off slow...

I am doing couch to 10k. It is pretty easy to follow. I agree that it depends on the mindset that you go in with. Set several attainable goals to meet a larger goal. I am hoping to mostly run a 10k in May.

I am also open to friend requests.
