Familiar with Los Angeles area?

So I decided to set a goal for myself.
WHEN I reach my goal I am going to take my husband and I on a trip to Los Angeles. We've been once but want to go back and spend some time there to see the sights.
Any suggestions of an area that I should look for a hotel? Something reasonable yet close to things so we don't get COMPLETELY lost!?!

Hey there.
I have lived in LA my entire and am very familiar with the area. The problem here is that everything is soo spread out. Not really one central area, but a ton of smaller areas. What are you hoping to see while you are here and what are your interests? Budget plays a big part, however if you can let me know what you're into it would help.
Also, even though were not supposed to hype other websites, try TripAdvisor. Not a food, calorie site so I dont think Im breaking the rules, Its a great site for travel planning, has all kinds of hotel/restaurant and sightseeing reviews0 -
I think Burbank is a great area, it is the media capital of the world, fair prices, has an airport, close to the studios, Hollywood, the beach, great shopping and food (even healty food). i grew up there all my life and poeple who came to visit me loved it around there!!!0

Well we love to see the sights, such as the walk of fame, hollywood boulevard, rodeo drive... LOVE THE BEACH, and my husband is a golfer.
Budget, well I'd like to find something that is no more than, say, $100 a night? Not sure if that is even feesable in LA?0 -

100 per night, not a prob...... Burbank is nice enought that not even the lower ranked hotels are bad... I would try the Ramada Inn or one of thoses.... Hotels.com should give you some idea's. you can go to Universal, Hollywood and even a studio tour of Warner Bros. The beach... depending on traffic is 30 mins away.... and that would be Santa Monica with the board walk or Venice Beach with the strip to walk down... really cool shopes. Hollywood and Highland... a great starting place to see the walk of fame is about 10-15 mins away. there is also the Holly bowl..... catch some great shows for pretty cheap (if you get lawn).0

Burbank is pretty central. Unless you want to shell out the big bucks you won't get near the beach cities. 30 minutes to the beach from Burbank is pretty optimistic these days. There is no such thing as rush hour anymore - its all traffic, all the time. That will happen no matter where you stay.
There is golf, hiking and horseback riding nearby in Griffith Park. Universal City ( a rip off in my opinion - $60 last time I checked) and Citywalk are right there too. Tons of shopping ( malls all over and Beverly Hills about 30 - 40 minutes).0
