Is there anyone out there that has Hypothyroid and still have had success with weight loss? I keep hearing/reading how hard it is to lose weight when you have hypothyroid and want to believe that this is not always true. I need some inspiration. PLease share your stories.....

I have hypothyroid, anemia (low iron, B12) so take medication/supplements for both. I have been on here for almost 3 months, lost 10lb first month and only 3lb in the last 1.5 months. I find it really hard to lose weight, I am at 1200cal/day. I hope anyone who answers has some answers for me as well...:sad:0

I have had hypothyroid since I was about 20. It has been very hard for me to lose weight, but I did do it about three years ago! I think it's about finding a balance(calories in and out) and sticking with calorie counting and exercise for at least 3-6 months. I was working out hard (90 minutes a day) and was not getting results, and one day it just started falling off and I lost 20 pounds. I did gain it back due to emotional eating. I have been working out a lot the last three months and trying to eat less (I love food!), and I am just now losing again(three pounds in the last two weeks). A week ago my doctor also changed my thyroid medicine to include medicine for T3 levels. The range is from 85-120 on T3. Mine was at 87. He said that could be why I am so tired all the time and why I can't lose weight. It's only been a week so I don't know what it is doing for me yet.
I have always hated to use hypothyroidism as an excuse but I do believe we have to work harder at losing weight than some because of our metabolism. I don't know if that helps, but that's my story.
Also make sure you are eating enough. 1200 cals isn't the best for everyone. And if you're not losing much, try raising it 100-200 cals for at least few weeks. It will be enough to jump start the weight loss again. I eat around 1400-1500 cals a day right now. 1200 was too low and I wasn't losing weight.

living proof that hypo doesn't significantly effect your ability to lose weight.
so please don't get discouraged0
