Ladies: Any experience with Implanon?
Hi Ladies,
I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with Implanon, the implant birth control method.
I am currently on a progesterone-estrogen pill and am having no side effects, but I am not perfect at taking it every day. I was thinking of switching to a method that I don't have to worry about every day. I am just concerned with preventing pregnancy, not with STDs. I have one partner that I plan to be with for a long long time =]
I mostly want to know if anyone has experienced really bad side effects.
Thank you so much for your help. All you ladies are amazing and wonderful =D

I have it and I LOVE it!!
I had one really long period near the beginning but since (1 year now) I've only had 1 "real" bleed. I usually just get a little extremely light bleed, barely need a pad, every now and then.
No more cramps and way less mood swings!!
My boobs still swell and get sore though! And I get hungry. But it's well worth it for the no hassle periods I have now!
EDIT: I didn't gain with mine, I'm actually lighter now or at least the same weight as this time last year when I had it put it.0 -
actually i just got it last week.
its still healing and was pretty sensitive, and the procedure wasnt all that much fun, but all in all, i like it. no worries for 5 years!0 -
Did you ever think of Nuva Ring? I was on that and it was great! Put it in the last day of your period and take it out 4 weeks later, for one week, to allow a period then put a new one in. Very easy and low maintenance.0

I had one in a few years ago and it was amazing! I then took it out to concieve my son and it messed me up then it took 15 months to get pregnant.
After having my sone i did go back for another one to be fitted tho. Once again no periods ect however when it was due i was such a moody cow!! I had it removed last october and im only just getting normal cycles back again now!0 -
I have really liked my Implanon. In the beginning, maybe for the first 4-6 months I only got my period every 6-8 weeks and every couple of cycles they seemed especially heavy. Then they they normalized and I got them once a month and it would last 3-4 days and not heavy at all. Now, (I'll be getting it replaced probably next month) I'm getting my period every 20 days or so, but it only lasts 2 days. I never had 2 weeks of bleeding or any horrible side effects. I've heard that some do, but I think that's the same with anything. I didn't experience any weight gain at all. In fact, I've lost since having it put in. I have liked it enough to have it replaced. It's so convenient. I don't have to remember to take anything and I can't mess it up0
