So...you're sitting there at night and suddenly the wicked sugar fairy hits you with her wand. What do you reach for to satisfy this craving WITHOUT CHEATING?

Just did! Apples or strawberries cut up, a few big dollops of fat free Greek yogurt, and a generous sprinkle of brown sugar all mixed up. 150 calories.

Or a couple Hershey Kisses :)

Frozen grapes. I recently discovered them and they are like little spheres of sorbet and happiness.

Frozen strawberries, frozen bananas, pineapple chunks, applesauce, Jello/gelatin. If I have calories to spare, graham crackers

Oh I'm glad I posted this! These are great ideas!
  • I've been having tea with raw honey. I justify it because of the antioxidants.

I was looking for a thread like this since I have a crazy sweet tooth. I'm always trying to wean off sugar. :grumble:
It depends on what you consider cheating, but here are mine:

    Frozen grapes, other fruit
Amberlyn sugar free chocolates (so good!)
Chobani plain nonfat Greek yogurt with truvia and frozen wild blueberries - yum
"tea" made with hot water, lemon juice, truvia and sometimes a splash of pomegranate juice, or any other tea
    Diet hot chocolate
Cracklebred or rice cake with low sugar jam and peanut butter
    A peppermint candy
Smart pop kettle corn 100 calorie bag
Smoothie made with soy milk or almond milk, ice, 1/3rd banana, and 1 scoop peanut flour (defatted from trader joes like pb2)
    A sip of Ginger wine
Banana sauteed in a little butter with a little rum cream (hey it's still low calorie)
I still have holiday treats frozen individually in my freezer if it comes to it :blushing:

I don't usually have much of a sugar craving since I incorporated so much fruit into my diet, but I do go for a dark dark chocolate now and then. It's planned right into my day though, so there's no cheating about it =)

I'm glad you asked this question too! I have a BAD Sweet tooth and it really does hit me at night :grumble: I usually reserve some calories for a piece or 2 of dark chocolate, sugar free popsicle (only 10 calories each), sugar free fudgsicle (40 calories) or the sugar free pudding. I like the sounds of frozen grapes...I've never tried! Thankx

I'll usually have a square or two of Lindt & Sprüngli 90% cacao chocolate. If I don't have any of that handy I'll have a chopped up apple with Greek yogurt.

They say chocolate is good and fairly guilt free, a square or two, because it has sugar but little starch. In the glycemic index diet book, he says starchy sweets don't satisfy the sweet tooth until you have eaten too many, however, pure sugar treats do. It's something complicated about the taste buds, but very interesting.

there's an interesting thing about the satiety hormones too. check it out.

Some of these things I use. Many I've never tried before. Think I'll pick up some greek yogurt tomorrow. It seems to be the latest rage. I love the sugar free popsicles. Hershey's dark chocolate kisses, 20 calories each complete with antioxidents. Yes I'm making a grocery list. Keep the ideas coming!
