Today I begin my first goal of 7 full days of no fast foods or restaurant foods. I seem to really go over my calories, sodium and fat when I eat out. I also don't lose weight. I have 6 weeks left in my church challenge to get some weight off and and even after that I want to continue to make healthier eating choices. I know I can do this. Its only one week but I am really taking this goal seriously. I have a real issue with eating a lot outside the home and that is partially the reason I am so big now.

I need some quick ideas of foods I can make at home and filling snacks if u have any you'd like to share please do!

i like poached egg on toast that takes about 2 mins, why dont u try making a big bowl of homemade veg soup, u can then keep it in fridge for a few days, and its on hand when u need it

Just try to make healthier choices. Fast food is out of the question. Try to make your own meals. Use the calorie counter and be creative. It's fun and healthier. Good luck.

I gave up "food that is passed through a window" for lent. So far, it has been really easy. (knock on wood)

my latest fast meal is a flatout bread pizza. A little sauce, a little cheese, a lot of veggies, pop in the oven til the cheese melts...yummy!

I also never leave the house without a few 100 calorie packs of dark chocolate roasted almonds.

I used to be a fast food fan until I decided to just do something about it. Now it has been 6 weeks and it is actually easy. Even when smelling it or seeing, I don't have the desire to eat it anymore. Amazing how your body changes so quickly.

    Keep up the good work.

Snack foods might include a serving of almonds, an apple, yogurt, banana, rice cake. One easy, but healthful meal that might satisfy your FF craving is MorningStar spicy black bean veggie burger on a thin bun or slimwich or similar whole wheat bun with plenty of onions & tomatoes. Having one of those keeps me out of BK and is tasty too!

If im in the mood for bad food (happens too often) i try to make my own version! For instance-

veggie burgers instead of a beefburger
baked chicken breast on a low cal roll instead of a chicken burger
pitta bread pizza or ive used puff pasty and made a pizza/tart out of that and very tasty!
griddled chicken/lamb with mint sauce on a tortilla wrap for a kebab
Loads of herbs and spices on a chicken breast then baked for fried chicken
made my own calzone by making the pizza dough out of brown flour, water and a tiny bit of oil then stuffed with veggies and some herbs and maybe some meat!
Curries are easy to make healthy if you cut out the cream ect and make a tomato based sauce
as for chinese then a stirfry is so easy and quick to cook and just play with the flavours you like serve with rice or low cal noodles.

Before i started this i would eat takeout 2/3 times a week i now have it maybe once a month or so. And thats only because i havent found a way to replicate a donner kebab!!

I've found since I started this new lifestyle a month and a half ago, that if I have fast food or restaurant food, that my body totally rejects it and I feel horrible. You just have to have the willpower to hold out and then your body will guide you to the correct choices.

You can do it! I haven't had any fast food since jan. As for snacks and such I keep a fridge full of, yoplait yogurt, low carb low cal tortilla shells, almonds, 100 cal cheese packs, tons of fresh fruit and veggies. I also use no cal sweetner(walmart brand) bc spelnda and truvia contain more sodium. I eat those sandwhich thins instead of regular bread. I also recently started eating fish again which I normally don't like lol. Good luck!

I am the worst at coming up with healthy recipes! I am from the south and we love our cornbread and fried potatoes. lol

My Sister-In-Law, however, just lost 75 lbs. and she has been sharing a lot of her recipes and ideas with me. She buys Gino's Turkey Burgers "Savory" (she said they are in an orange package in the freezer section) and bakes them along side a potato cut up into french fries. Then you feel like you are having fried chicken and french fries. One of my personal favorites that is extremely low cal is tilapia cooked on the stove top split between 2 corn taco shells. If you have never had fish tacos it probably sounds gross, but it is sooo good. For some reason the tilapia and corn shells really complement each other. Those are sooooo easy to make. AND, one tilapia filet is only 100 calories and taco shells are only 50 cals each. That means you can have 2 tacos for only 200 calories.

I will talk to her and get some more ideas and pass them on to you. :)
