The "10 lbs left" blues!

To anyone who's almost at their goal or who's reached their goal, as you got closer to it, did you feel at all discouraged? I just don't feel as strong as I used to anymore. I'm not saying I'm going to go back to how I was before, not at all - no way am I putting ANY of the weight back on! I'd never let myself get to how I was again. But I seem to have lost the drive to do well. I would NEVER give in to temptation in the beginning, but now I'm finding myself giving in here and there. Nothing big, but an example would be - last night I went to Nando's with some friends. I planned to just have a fillet burger (345 cals) and some mashed potato (220 cals) which would have kept me in my calorie allowance with around 50 to spare. Needless to say, I didn't stick to it and had some garlic bread along with it which was around 300 cals. I suppose it's nothing like my old eating habits (I honestly think I used to eat 3,000 calories a day - I'd eat SO much chocolate, sweets, biscuits, and just bad processed food in general for every single meal/snack!) but I don't feel I'm working hard enough to lose the weight anymore. I'm still working out, I'm still eating healthily for the most part and I still do want to lose more, I just seem to have lost the drive i had in the beginning just seeing if anyone else out there has felt the same & if anyone else can relate!
To anyone wondering.. from the start to now.
Male, 18 yrs.
Start - 200 pounds, BMI = 27.9
Now - 159 pounds, BMI = 22.2
Obviously I'm well in the healthy range now but I'm still 14lbs ish off my goal weight of 145 lbs with a bmi of 20.2. I'm comfortable with the way I look now, for the most part. I've dropped from a 38 inch waist to a 32 inch waist & I've gone from a large mens shirt size to a small/medium (depending where i shop). But still, I do still have quite a belly & I'd like my thighs to be a tad slimmer I just don't know what to do.

I know how you feel, I'm there too. I have about 7 pounds to go and I feel like they will be the hardest to lose by far. I also had a goal to lose all the weight by my birthday, 4/22, but now that I'm losing at like .2-.4 a week I know it's not a realistic goal anymore so that's discouraging too, but I'm trying to stay positive.
Today, I did a closet cleaning and filled two huge yard trash bags full of clothes that are too large. I'm going to donate them. That made me feel pretty good and also cleared some serious space in the closet for new clothes that I will buy myself once I reach goal
You seem like you are in a really really healthy place and maybe your body is just telling you to hang out here for a few weeks, maintain and enjoy your healthy body. Maybe in a month or so you'll be motivated to lose those last few pounds or maybe you'll decide you're happy where you are, or you want to build more muscle...who knows?
Good luck!0 -
I'm in the same boat. My weight hasn't budged since November, and I only have 10-15 pounds left to go! I sometimes think of settling with where I'm at. I mean, I love the way I look, I'm healthier than ever before, and lighter than ever before. But I just don't like the idea of quitting so I'm trying to keep going. These last 10-15 pounds are way harder to lose than the first 20!0

I totally feel the same!0

I agree with both of you.. the first 15lbs literally dropped off me within about 3 weeks! If only i could lose like that now I'm still doing the same as I used to. I guess my body is just "used" to my routine now. I may just maintain for a few weeks then start again, I'm not unhappy with how i look at all right now really. Hmm! I'm just scared I'll go off track and start gaining, the thought of gaining scares me0

It looks and sounds to me like you don't really need - or even want - to lose any more weight. If I were you I'd shift my focus to strength training and look for results in the mirror instead of on the scale. Toning up a bit will do a lot more for your physique than losing 7-10 more pounds. Which, in my humble opinion, is more likely to make you look weak/scrawny than strong/healthy!0
