I have a friend who was a beautiful specimen of a man. He was chisled and cut. He was hansome and smart. He was also a trainer at a local gym and one of those kind of people who helped me get started for free.
He told me he was in one of those before and after pictures for a company we have all seen on TV.
He was told to put on 20-30 pounds for the before picture. All he needed to do was continue to eat his 3500 cals a day and stop his weight training. put it on real fast.
Then because he was only 2/3 months out from full out weight lifting, he shed the weight in 3-4 wks.
Also, we all can have a before and after picture. I did it....it is pretty damn funny.
Put on a sports bra (not YOU max!) and bicycle shorts.
Stand facing the camera, do not smile, tuck in your chin. Let your shoulders down and arms flat to your body or worse cross them in front.
do NOT suck in.
Now take another.
Lift your chin, lift your shoulders. Put your hands behind your back. Good posture...you are PROUD
Suck in your stomach. put 1 shoulder to the camera, or cross your legs at ankle
SMILE....
OMG I laughed so hard. I lost 20 POUNDS in 1 picture. I still have it somewhere. I made a side by side for my friend.

That rocks!! And then there are the "before" pics that you KNOW are computer touched....:noway:0 -

I don't mind people asking the same questions--it gets tiring when the same people ask the same questions over and again or ask but don't listen. Know what I mean on that?
But we all had to learn at least once. I asked many of the same routine questions when I came on here. I
also find the atmosphere little changed since I came on here--more people now but that's always a good thing--more people means more motivations and more success stories!
When I get tired of answering questions, I just stop--someone else always chimes in anyway with good thoughts. Geesh, I still have a lot of questions I ask--that's why we're all here, right? to get help?
It gets frustrating at times on here, yeah sure--but heck, life is frustrating. Nothing is every going to be just the way you like it.
so ask away! If I don't feel like answering, I won't! And if you don't feel like answering, then don't! No hurt feelings either way as far as I'm concerned.
My sentiments EXACTLY!0 -

I'm new to this site and the message boards, but I wanted to put my two cents on the subject. While I can't compare what I see now to what it used to be, I've personally found many of the discussions productive and helpful. Hey ... maybe its just me ....
It bothers me when people get overly sensitive. Come on guys ... let's practive some empathy and understand that weight loss is simply frustrating. What's the big deal with people asking the same questions? What's the big deal with people getting annoying from time to time? Isn't this supposed to be a "support community"? If weight loss were that easy I bet none of us would be here.
I've struggled for many years with my weight and I know that my "rantings" to my friends and family are tiredsome at times. I would expect them to be annoyed ... but us who are supposed to be in the same boat? Come on ... if you think the comment or question is dumb ... just move on ... stop being so critical please. What might be irrelevant or repetitive to you might help someone else.

Wow! This post went farther than I thought it would.
Look weight loss isn't easy, I personnaly have never been overweight but I've busted my hump in the gym/ sports/ etc... since I was 14 years old.
I came to this website because a friend showed me about the calorie counter etc... and I liked being able to see where all my calories were coming from, where I ate the most calories and how often I was eating througout the day. WOW was it a wake up call on some items.
I stay on this website because I know there are millions of women who want to get fit, live healthy, train and do well in the gym...but most have no idea where to start. I'm not a certified personal trainer, but I plan on being one. I've spent my entire life in the gym (since I was 14), call me an official "gym rat" if you will. I LOVE helping women (empowering them I guess), and teaching the basics of the gym, weights, cardio, nutrition and I even share some of my secrets to learning what I have over the past 17 years.
It's a LOT of information, and it takes time, patience and research to get the whole concept of fitness down...but even then a lot has changed over the years.
Anywhoo..I digress :ohwell:
I'd love to help out if anyone has questions...and I guess once I get the chance I'll post a picture. I DON'T plan on competing in body building, but I am seriously considering figure and maybe fitness competitions, I duno if the military will let me compete in things like that but I guess I'll have to see. :smokin:
Ladies...keep your chin up, keep putting one foot infront of the other and know that there are ladies out there who are more than willing to help you make your goals.
Cheers and best of luck to you all.

Vypergirl I will have you know I am keeping BOTH of my chins up!!
I love strong women. I have always been the dainty lil one everyone grabs the heavy package from. It got really bad after I had my car accident, and I played right into it.
I am encouraged by your words, and learn a lot on this web site.
Now I lift my OWN damn packages!!!0 -
This is a little bit gentler version of vypergrl's post -
A long time ago I posted something that made me mad - in a good way because it motivated me. I was in my car and saw a friend of mine driving by. She is a size 2. (Yes, I love her and hate her at the same time, ha ha!) As she drove by, I noticed she was eating a snack of BROCCOLI. Not McDonald's, not Starbuck's or any other fast food "snack" gimmick out there. She is a size 2 because she works out and eats healthy foods. Commercials for garbage food are very deceptive, because everyone in them is slim and beautiful. They like to make you think you can eat their stuff 3 meals a day and look like the actors in the commercials. BUT you cannot. (OK, MOST of us cannot.) We must eat healthy foods, exercise (sweat is beautiful, honest, and wearing makeup while you workout is a bizzare and yucky concept for me!), get our sleep, take our vitamins not put weird drugs in our bodies, limit our alcohol, etc. All the stuff we've been told and ignored because maybe we were hoping for the magic, easy way to come along. It is not fast. It is not always easy. Period. This site is meant for "Tough Love". But it works!!! :flowerforyou:0
