I'm on the Mireena IUD, and I've been exactly 180 for the past month! I've been eating better and smaller amounts and exercising everyday. But yet I'm still exactly 180!! Does the Mireena IUD make it difficult to lose weight?

it has hormones in it so i would think about "looking" into that kind of side effect.

All i know is that i can only lose wight while being birth control free.....every  body is different of course,
hope you get a better answer.

Since I've been doing better with eating and exercising, I haven't had any issues losing weight with it. I'm also on another medication which supposedly makes it harder to lose weight also, but I just work through it.

as PP said, everyone is different though.

The weight loss wont be fast... I myself have a 10 yr IUD and my weight has fluctuated a lot since having it put in back in 2002. But the weight will come off eventually. Just keep working at it. :)

I've always had major issues with certain birth controls. One of the major ones is weight gain and difficulty losing weight while on it. After my son's birth, my doctor recommended that I not use this birth control for the same side effects. Not necessarily that this bc has that side effect specifically but that it is a similar hormone so I would probably experience the same for myself.

I have Mirena as well and havent noticed any problems. I am averaging 2.2 pounds a week. Maybe you arent eating enough? Hang in there though! It wil come off!
