dancing it off in the privacy of my living room...

I speak video game. It’s one of several reasons I grew up a chubby kid, and now I’m making it one of the reasons I’m gonna lose it AND keep it off.
I was at Best Buy a couple weeks before Christmas when my phone rang, it was my friend Shelley. I told her where I was and that I was about to buy the Xbox 360 for the kids for Christmas. Long story short, she convinced me to get the one with Kinect. It went back and forth ----
ME: it’s $350!! I can barely afford the $250 for the regular one!
HER: It’s worth it’s weight in gold!
ME: Maybe I’ll get that part for them later.
HER: Look, it only costs $100 more, by itself it’s $150, PLUS it comes with a game! It’s practically free!
ME: Shut up already damn! I’ll buy it!
So I did. The kids LOVED it, they forgot all about their Wii… Then New Year’s came and I started losing the weight. I have an elliptical and was using that daily, but wanted to do utilize this game system thing. I went out and bought Dance Central. I love to dance, it looked like fun!
I’m now completely addicted to this game! I play every night, and just like a true gamer, I am always striving to get better, to get higher scores, to perfect a dance. Last week I noticed that they are ordered from least difficult to most. Well… that’s all I needed to know! I started with song #1 and made myself do the easy, medium, AND hard version of it with 5 stars in each before allowing myself to move on. Next thing I know I’ve finished with 3 songs and I’ve been working out hard for an hour and a half! The best part is, all the dances are different, you are doing CRAZY things with your body, changing it up every day even though you’re playing the same game.
If you’ve been on the fence about this game system or game, GO FOR IT! Much fun will be had! AND… I wear my heart rate monitor the entire time, I stay between 120 and 160 when I’m “performing”, 100-120 when I’m “breaking it down” (learning the dances)
Happy dancing

I did the exact same thing about a month ago. I still takes my exercise classes, but I do Dance Central and zumba on kinect. I work up quite a sweat & my HRM shows I burn lots of calories with it. I'll be using it later today too!
Kinect gamers unite! :bigsmile:0 -
I do not own an xbox but I do own a Wii and I have Zumba and Just Dance 1 and 2. I love them all and play them just about everyday. I also do the Wii fit on a daily basis. Hopefully soon I will see some results!0

I also have Dance Central for the Kinect and I love it!! It is so user friendly and I love the fact that there are no remotes to hold. It is really a fun workout. I would also recommend it:)

I'm looking now to see what to get next, The Biggest Loser one gives good workouts... but is it fun?? I want to concentrate more on the "beating the game" then the "Holy Ike I can't breathe, this is WORK!" Thanks0

I play "real life" Cant afford a game right now, but when I saw all the fun the gamers were having it reminded me of my headset and music! WOO HOOOO! I can burn 300 calories and do the funky chicken
My 50th Bday is coming up and I can ask for ANYthing I want, right? So I think I will ask for this new game. :flowerforyou:0
