Does anyone save up their exercise calories over the week?

Is there anyone that saves up their exercise calories during the week in case they want to eat less strictly over the weeeknd?
I only ask because I exercise ALOT and gain a fair few extra calories each day...... I dont always eat all of them - but if I do go over my daily allowance, I feel INCREDIBLY guilty.
I was just wondering if I will continue to lose weight if I dont always eat my exercise calories but perhaps when I do go slightly over, can I justify it by saying to myself that I actually didnt eat all my extra calories this week so I shouldnt be so hard on myself?
I hop this makes sense - I just fear I am becoming calorie obsessed and although I want to change my life for the better I do NOT want to become one of these women that literally will not eat over once in a while for the fear of ruining all my hard work thus far.
I dont eat sweets, chocolate, fatty crisps or anything like what I used to- I havent had alcohol in over a month (good going seeing as I LOVE rose) and I just need to get myself in the correct mindset - ie it doesnt matter if I am 100 calories over if some days I am left with like 1000 extra because of my exercise.
Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated - thanks in advance

Honestly I go over my calories occasionally...it happens. I just jump back in the next day and start over. With the exercise it sounds like you've been doing especially, you should definitely allow yourself those moments and enjoy! There are a lot of forums around here about zig-zagging your calories to keep your metabolism guessing...maybe look into that! Good luck!0

I think its OK to overeat once in a while but not at the benefit of saving cals...I dont think you can use cals earned of Mon for Fri..although its in the same week...so it might help but I would jus consider it a lax day and be over it!!!0

i dont personally, but am off out sat nite and there will be hog roast, so am just gonna plan saturdays food intake more carefully than a normal sat, im not drinking cause am driving so thankfully no alcohol to add to calorie list0

I personally don't do that. My calorie intake vary from day to day. Depending on how much I work out since I'm constantly changing what I do. Saving your calories for another day reminds me of roll over minutes but in this case it doesn't really work out that way (at least I don't think it does). It is good to treat yourself and actually enjoy meals like you used to, but doing it all the time will back fire on you.0

you are essentially asking the same thing i just did in a posting!
the response that i got was that your body doesnt work on an internal 24 hour clock... so basically to lose one pound a week you have to decrease your weekly intake my 3500 calories in total. to me, that means that YES you can save your burned calories for the weekend
and dont feel bad about going over your goal... remember how much extra you used to eat in a day before you tried losing weight? if its not too close to that and it only happens once in a while, i feel like its not too bad. we need to live. and loving food is a part that shouldnt be compromised in doing so0 -
Holla! I do the same thing. But that doesn't mean that I will eat extra on the weekend. It's my backup.lol just in case I cave in.0

That's a Weight Watchers perspective but even WW says you shouldn’t use more than 10 points saved in any one sitting which is about 700 cals. If you are going to eat an extra 700 cals, be sure to exercise THAT day. The body wont remember all the calories you saved up over the past week but it will benefit by mixing things up a bit and eating more calories on at least one day to prevent starvation more. It’s also called carb cycling.
Instead just allow yourself one cheat meal – not a cheat day or you may end up at 4000 cals that day. If you eat about 2000 cals in a day, you are around maintenance so you wont gain but you’ll still enjoy food that you don’t normally have.
I know people on here say they don’t deny themselves anything, they have a little piece of chocolate or whatever when they want it but I personally have never experienced cravings so I would rather enjoy a whole ice cream code – not the low fat junk on Saturday night and not have to worry about the 300 or so cals it was.0 -
I dont ever really aim to eat extra or save them up for something special- just I have been over by 6 or maybe 50 a few times and I honestly kick myself - I just wonder if I should ease up on myself because some days I burn so many and then never eat nearly all of them the days I do earn them.
Thank you all for your advice -it all helps. Its so nice to be able to speak to people about how youre feeling and hear that some people are thinking/feeling the same.
I LOVE this site xxx0 -
the thing with calorie reduction/weight loss is that you are looking for the "over all effect" in other words, over time. Be wary of "over doing it" on the week ends though. If you track long enough, you will see a difference. Going over a few days here and there isn't going to kill everything you've done, as long as you keep going in the right direction. And no, being obsessed with your calorie count isn't good at all, in fact a few days here and there over calories is ok; gives you and your body and break. Now mind you, I said a FEW days here and there. Now, if you "go over" on the weekends, the next day you may see a slight jump in weight, but that's no big deal if over all you are on track, just keep this in mind. Make sure you are also fueling yourself well, nutrients and water. Also keep in mind sodium intake, big one here. Keep things in balance though, if you save 1000 calories for the weekend, and eat it all, you're gonna see a jump regard less in weight the next few days, But like I said, keep things balance and moving forward...
sorry for the long post, these are just things I have found out in my life/weight Journey.
At first I was obsessed in counting, but then I learned a thing or two about how my body really works, and I still lost tons of weight and I know you can do it too! :flowerforyou:0 -
I do the same. When you use the ipod/iphone app, you can look at your overall weekly summary and as long as i am not over my net calories for the week i feel like I did fine, even if I was over some days and under others.0
