is sparkling water bad for you? i know it sounds like a really silly question but the thought of drinking 8 pints of tap water a day makes me feel ill. this stuff tastes quite nice!

I drink it all the time, there are some here that will say it has been shown to accelerate bone loss. I have yet to read anything supported by science or a peer reviewed article that supports it, so I drink it. My entire family drinks it more frequently than water and no one has a problem. I just burp a bit more. I love the flavored ones.

I love love love seltzer with lemon and lime, but I don't count it as my 8 glasses of water.

My experience with plain water has been the more you drink it the more your body will crave it.

If you are drinking flavored sparkling water then I wouldn't count it as water since you are getting all sorts of sugars (real or fake) in there too. It's basically like soda at that point. If it is plain then I think it is just as good as uncarbonated water.

I used it to break my soda habit. I read the label it's water so I count it in my water. The flavored one I drink have no sugar or sweetner in them so I count them too.:drinker:

This isn't quite accurate. MANY sparkling, flavored waters are loaded down with either aspartame or sugar, however some brands, such as Poland Spring and Polar, do not sweeten their sparkling waters.

I spent a couple of years drinking two litters of Polar Pomegranate flavored sparkling water a day - over which time I went from a US size 12 to a US size 16. This was due to diet, I'm well aware, but one thing that I noticed is that I was always, always hungry unless it was within maybe an hour of eating. My personal belief from my own experience is that the carbonation expands your stomach, stretching it so that you need to eat more to become full - messing up your internal ability to regulate how much you're eating.

It's been about a year since I stopped drinking carbonated anything on a regular basis, and I feel 100% better for it!
