Just wanted to know if you give yourself a "free day" after you weigh in?? I have heard of people doing this--basically just eating waht they want once they have weighed themselfs?
Is this something YOu do?? Why / Why not??/
Thanks for any input.

Nope I use weigh day to gauge how I am doing...if I have a gain I drink more water and up my exercise, if I am under I am far too happy to "ruin" it...lol.
I may give in before weigh day or after but that actual day is my 1 day where I am either strict or too happy!0 -
I don't, but I weigh in on Mondays. I'd rather save my free day for later in the week. Some weeks I don't use it at all. There are foods that I enjoy that aren't part of a healthy eating plan. If I have a day that those foods make an appearance, then I try to eat smaller portions and I log them in. I would hate to use that day on a Monday. I never know what craziness the rest of the week might hold.0

Monday has been my weigh in day since I started, and it also happens to be my rest day...I don't really have a cheat day or give in day though.0

I dont use food to reward my self on weigh in day. Instead i'll buy a new book or magazine or music on itunes as a reward. It's nice knowing that i earned that prize.0

i don't plan on it but it can and does happen once in a while. just works out that way. sometimes i'm good and once in a while i celebrate.
but my cheat days are never a reason to go crazy crazy.0 -
No! I want to KEEP it off, so I usually am best on weigh in day and the couple days before. Sometimes a few days later though, I start to slack... oops! Today I saw some water weight on the scale so that's motivating me to chug chug chug today and eat really clean this week!0

I generally have something I really want on Sundays, if ive been craving something ill have it but I wont use the entire day as a huge cheat day. maybe just something special to go with dinner, or a cake to go with my morning coffee0

It depends on you. Some people need to schedule their cheat days, makes them feel in control, and it works for them. For me, it’s kind of like planning for failure, I don’t really plan a cheat day, I just try to be real strict during the week, and the weekends I relax a bit, if I happen to eat something not on my “diet” so be it, if I’m good all weekend all the better.0

I changed my weigh in day to friday, on friday nifght i have a meal that i don't log ! i don't use it as a cheat day but i have a meal that i just don't count and i have wine friday night is my night of, life is for living! i'm not on a diet, i eat health and drink much less than i used too!
80/20 is my rule good 80% of the time0 -
I don't like the idea of 'cheat days'. I don't want to ruin a whole day. Maybe I'll give myself a snack or two a week.0

I know it works differently for everyone but for me food as a reward would be very wrong. I am trying to make a lifestyle change.0

I try not to plan free days because I have this kind of luck where if I have one on a Wednesday, then Thursday something will happen and my day will be all crazy and I don't get any exercise that day either (which is why I don't plan my days off)!! Most of the time I do run into a crazy day once a week or so. I also don't have regular weigh in days. I just do it when the mood strikes. I do make sure I weigh in at the same time, just not the same days. BEFORE anyone blast me on that, I am not one of those people that get mad when the scale doesn't budge for me 2 days in a row. :ohwell: so this is what works for me.0

No, I weigh in on Monday and am lucky to lose a pound each week! I HAVE to be faithful to my plan or pretty soon it is all out the window for me!0

You can have a cheat meal not a cheat day. Because all the weight you worked off for the week you can gain back by consuming double or triple the amount of calories of your daily alotment of calories0
-
YES, I do.
For me, it's what keeps me focused. I'm still losing 1-2lbs a week. Now I'm not saying I go crazy and eat or binge on everything I've ever wanted..... but I allow myself a day in which I can have some food that I prolly normally wouldn't eat. It also keeps me from feeling the need to cheat during my week.
I mean, even though pizza isn't good for you, it's not like I'm never gonna eat it ever again. For me that's unrealistic. But, I don't eat 4 or 5 slices anymore. I eat maybe 2. And I don't feel there is anything wrong with that.... it's part of my lifestyle change.0 -
I just eat things like Pizza, Ice cream etc when I feel the craving for it. I just learned to not eat it all the time! So I really don't have cheat days. I try not to look at it like it's some task or something. If I'm hungry for it, I eat it.0

WOW!!!!!!!!!! I sure wasn't expecting all these amazing responses!! I think deep down, I know what the "right" answer is....I just have to be brave enough to face it!!!
I think part of the reason I am 50 pounds overweight is b/c I have given myself too many "free days" in the past!!
i feel very strongly taht with all this support here that I can actually do this!!!!
Thanks for all the responses.

My weight in day is Saturday mornings, before eating or drinking anything, I work hard during the week, on Saturdays it is very hard to stay on track , so I use Saturday as my "cheat" day, I have been weighing in, having my breakfast as normal, usally eggwhite on deli thin bread, and try to keep my calorie count down so I dont have the extra calories for later on, The rest of the week I am right back on track, without too much problem, and thus far no weight gain!0

God no!!!!! My weigh in day is Monday ( today) and it just makes me want to work harder. Not blow away all my hard work0
