I work out with our free personal trainer from our apt complex. She only does weight training, abs, etc (no cardio) with us. I dont have a HRM but I have asked her how much she thinks we are burning and then in my head subtract some calories. I have only put it in once but should I log those calories on here or only log the calories I burn when Im actually doing cardio (like today). ? Thanks.

Her new thing is to give us different excercises. She then tells us to do the excercise with no stopping for one minute. This has made me feel so great as well as the other people who are working out.

I would log all the calories your burning. I mean your are burning calories when your doing cardio correct ? so why not do the same for your strength training days ? a calorie burned is a calorie burned...

Sounds like you are doing circuit training which includes bouts of cardio. I would count those calories but definitely invest in a HRM since everyone varies so much when it comes to weight training.

You are still burning calories so look them up under circuit training in the database. I did P90x for 30 (just legs) today and it was over 200 calories burned! Strength training is a huge fat burner! Keep it up

I'm a personal trainer myself, and although everyone has a different style of training the lack of cardio puzzles me... I wouldn't log in any extra calories.. depending on what type of HRM you have they can be very accurate so just judging by how intense the workout is and subtracting here or there could potentially hurt the result you are looking for. It's sounds like she's doing more of a circuit routine which combines some cardio but not enough for the fat burn you may be looking for. Keep up the great work and always make suggestions if you feel you aren't getting enough out of your workouts! I love when a client tells me it's time to change something... that means they are getting better and stronger and need something more to push themselves.
