Has anyone ever done the Nike Training Program for iPhone/iPod?? Thinking about giving it a shot, not sure if anyone has had any success with it? Comments/Complaints?

Thanks!

I would actually love to hear someone's review, too--because I have it, but I've never used it (but would really like to!).

I want to hear some reviews too
  • Is this the Nike Training Club you're referring to?

The programs are great, and you can open up new ones by logging minutes on the application, like little mini-achievements. However, it's really difficult to follow the programs if you're unfamiliar with the various exercises, considering all you have is this little screen to view it on. I imagine it's far easier when you know what each exercise entails, then all you need are the audio cues. If you know the exercises, and you can hook your iPod/iPhone up to speakers, it'd be perfect. Either that, or a video output cable.

There's a short video for each exercise, so you can familiarize yourself with each one before doing one of the preset programs. There's a lot of variation, and a huge pool of routines to pull from. You may need some equipment (a kettle bell, medicine ball, and jump rope) for some of them. Otherwise, all you need is your body and some room.

Overall? It's a great idea, I just don't think the iPod/iPhone app was the best way to execute it.

Get the app and try it out, regardless of reviews or opinions. You have nothing to lose, as it's free, and what might not work for one person might not work for another ;)

Well I just did it! I did the Sweat+Shape one. It didn't require any equipment, although I added some weights in for the squats and shoulder presses just because I felt like it. It was a good workout, 30 minutes in the beginner section. I would compare it to a Jillian Michaels type workout. I hooked it up to my speakers and if I didnt understand what the workout was I could pause it and watch the little video. I would recommend it if you have an iPod/iPhone, its a free app!

I have used it a few times and I think it is great! Free, what is better than that! Have the volume all the way up so you know when they are changing moves and if you don't know how to do it, it gives a video demonstration right there (just need to click on it) super simple.

My only complaint is that I sometimes I wont push myself as hard as when I watch exercise dvd's like Jillian, but that's a personal mental problem, when I'm super motivated I sweat my butt off.
  • I use the app 3 times a week when working out at the gym and at first it took a while to learn the moves and execute them properly, but once you have the moves down, it's a great workout!
