Hello:
I am not a board person and I told myself..I can do this on my own. I have been on MFP about 6 weeks and lost 27 lbs. However, I am getting to the point where I have been so many times before......l lose a little, start to feel better and wham..I give in and start eating the things I think I miss. I made an excuse not to go to the gym this morning and I need to nip this negative behavior in the bud.
Looking for frriends to support eachother and keep me/us going!!!!
Thanks,
Rick

Hi Rick,
Congrats on the 27lbs!! That's impressive!
I'm no expert, but have found myself in the same pattern before so figured I'd throw in my two cents.
I find that if I try to deny myself foods that I really like (which may be typically foods to avoid) permanantly, I will inevitably fall off the wagon at some point. The key is to get yourself on a "diet" that you can live with for the rest of your life so that your chances of success improve. My thing is that I set my weight loss goals moderately (I'm currently shooting for 7 - 10 a month) and count my calories (net calories) with MFP religiously Monday - Friday and I cut myself a little slack on the weekends. So far, so good. Thing about the calorie counting is, that if you do eat something "bad" you can correct it by tacking on some exercise or adjusting your meals for the rest of the day (or maybe make up for it the next day).
Also, on the workout front... maybe find something in addition to the gym that you enjoy for exercise (I discovered kettlebells about a year ago and it's a great work at home option that you can sneak in in 20-30 minutes). Either that, or change your gym routine around so that it doesn't get boring.
Just a couple of suggestions... good luck and don't give up! The payoff is worth it.0 -
Thanks for replying. I am hoping that with the nicer weather coming to the east, I can change up my workout routines. The whole workout thing is boring to me, so changing up sounds like a great idea.
I know I can eat the items I like in moderation or as a treat. It is just that when I do, I don’t stop! I am hoping the support here will help me from doing this. So, thanks for responding.... I appreciate it!
