I am a Bander(LapBand) and it is physically IMPOSSIBLE to consume 1200 calories a day (sorry MFP), but I do need to beef up my protein intake (pun intended).

I am allergic to soy and eggs so I have to find suppliments that are based around Whey.

So far I drink two proteing shakes a day and include a meat with each meal. That routine is kind of monotonous so I was looking for other inventive ways to get my protein in. My surgeon wants me to consume between 50-70 grams per day.

Any suggestions?

    Can you have nuts?

Peanut butter is a good way to get both calories and protein in.

Peanut butter in the shake! Wouldn't have any problem reaching 1200 that way. :)

Definitely talk to your doctor. S/he will have some solid advice based on your particular medical needs. You might ask for a referral to a dietician.
  • Yes I can have nuts. I have already gone over all of this with my doctor and dietician. I was just wanting to get some fresh ideas since I am so limited. I used to put peanut butter into my shake when I was on my original liquid diet and it was pretty good.

Maybe I can switch up the flavors on the shake and add pb. Vanilla might work well.

You could also add some vanilla yogurt to your protien shakes.

My friend had gastreo bypass. She used to put a scoop of whey protein in her cereal and milk,a scoop in a pudding cup. So forth. She was also having a hard time getting enough cals with protein.

    I eat chicken 2x a day. I always have 60+ protein.

how about a chicken shake? or a shaky chicken?

Sorry, dont know what is wrong with me.

foods like cottage cheese and yogurt are good for protein too, I second the nuts as well, they pack a major nutritional punch for such a tiny food.

    I

That's a good idea! I do that with my fiber, so why not with my protein. Thanks!!
