I joined MFP almost 3 months ago. When I started I weighed 150 pounds. I have lost and gained in pound increments back and forth during this time. I have gone down as low as 146 but have not gone below. I never eat over my calories, I workout 5-6 times a week, and the food I do it is healthy. I have tried varying my workout and have also tried fluctuating my calories to trick my body but none of this has worked. I am back up to 148 pounds again. What else can I try to get off of this platteau? I am doing everything I should according to the guidelines MFP has given me and am getting no where. It has me very frustrated. I have tried everything I can think of. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance!

Are you eating those exercise calories back? If you are not, you are not giving your body enough fuel. Your body is like a furnace, and it needs food to burn energy. Are you getting at least 7 hours of sleep per night and drinking half your weight in water (in ounces)? (150 pounds=75 ounces) Maybe you should eat over your calories every now and then, sometimes this gives your body a boost. I know it sounds strange, but it really does work. Be sure to rest your body about 1 or 2 days a week to recover from all the exercise. Try these things for a while and see how it goes. Best wishes!!! :flowerforyou:0

open up your food diary so we can see what you are eating it should be under tools and then settings. i was on a platuea for a few weeks, but it ended up I just wasn't eating my net calorie goal. Then I dropped three pounds. I am sure this week won't be such a huge lose, but i will take what I can get. Open your diary then we can check it out. Don't get too discouraged. I am sure that someone will have some advice!0

If you have done all that you might want to see a doctor to rule out any other potential problems. Sounds like you have done all you can to resolve the issue on your own. Without seeing your food log I can only speculate but here are some common comments about plateaus.
- Drink more water
- Cut down on salt/sodium
- If you aren't eating your exercise calories, do so.
- If you are eating your exercise calories, stop.
No matter what, you have to keep working through it. Sometimes a plateau just hits, hangs on and you have to ride it out til your body is ready to let go again! Good luck!0 -
Maybe you are right where you should be? You are not losing, but you are not really gaining. Time of day depends a lot on your weight. Since you are active, I'm thinking you are dong great just maintaining. It all depends on your height, though. You should look around online and find a BMI chart. It will give you a general idea of where your weight should be according to your height. :flowerforyou:0

Are you on any medications that could be interfering with your weight loss? That happened to me. Also, are you drinking your water? It really does make a huge difference.
You might need to see your doctor and have your thyroid checked also. Good luck, I know how frustrating it is to work so hard and not see any results0 -
I was doing the same for several months just yo-yoing a few pounds & not really losing. Now I have lost 4 lbs in 4 days. I cut down on my salt & ate more protein then carbs within my calorie allowance or course. Make sure you drink lots of water. Sometimes I think when you exercise as much as you are your body gains in muscle weight so I agree maybe you should cut down on your exercise days per week. Or maybe your body is were it wants to be. Good luck, hope you find what works for you!!0

If you would make your food journal public people could help you more. I had this same problem and made my journal public and have had alot of great responses. My main thing was ....I wasn't eating enough. I have tried to eat more calories with mainly increasing my protein. Also, I lift weights along with running.......it's hard at first to eat more ...but I DO feel more energized. Too soon to tell about the weight loss part yet......Good luck0

Your body could just be at a point where it is comfortable around the 150 range. Everyones body has a weight that its healtily comfortable at. Your body could be telling you that as well. I also agree with the other comments. Remember its about calories in and calories out if you dont eat enough your body will hold onto what you do eat. Also make sure you are drinking half your body weight in water a day at least. You will be amazed at the difference if you are not doing this already.0

How many calories are you consuming? Look at your food diary and be honest about your choices. Be sure you are tracking everything. And measure measure measure. Watch your sugars, eat lots of protein, amd drink water. Eat as soon as you can in morning. I am 5'1". Starting weight 148. Currently 134. Started 1/31/11. Calories on days I don't workout: 1250. Calories with workout: 1400-1500 depending on intensity.0

Thank you all for your responses. In answer to some of your questions.....
I do drink plenty of water everyday, on average between 70-80 ounces. I do not get the recommended amount of sleep each night, but I have a teething one year old so there really isn't much I can do to help with that right now. I have tried fluctuating my calories along with fluctuatin how much I work out. My thyroid has already been tested along with testing for anemia and a slew of other things. I am only 5'3" so I am still very much over weight. My ideal weight is around 120 pounds. I will get my diary opened up to every one so that hopefully you will have some more insight for me. Thank you all again for your input and I look forward to our weight loss journeys together!0
