Help! Calories v Fat

Hi all,
Trying to get my head round this! I make a veg lasagne and have worked out that the calorie content per portion is 341 but the fat is a scary 22g per portion! Whilst the calorie content is well within a decent amount for dinner, I know that this is too high in fat.
Would I be correct then in saying that this is not ideal to be eating this?! Or, so long as I have enough of my fat allowance for the day then this should be ok!?

A calorie is a calorie, and as long as your nutrient profile at the end of the day is healthy, it doesn't really matter if you choose to use up most of your fat allowance on one meal. Enjoy your lasagna!0

to be honest, I just count the calories, as some of the fat or protein allowances seem really low, and I have still been losing.
If you are eating the calories in your allowance, this means that you are burning more energy than you are eating, so surely
you will still lose weight even if the fat is a little higher. By the way, have you tried using cottage cheese mix for the white sauce
in the lasagne? Not as nice as normal white sauce I know, but could make a big difference in the fat content. Good Luck!0 -
I'm really starting to come around to the concept that the whole idea of eating lowfat is complete hogwash, encourages people to eat too many simple carbs, and puts weight on people. So no, I wouldn't worry about the fat content in the lasagna.
If you are worried about it, then either manage your portion sizes or don't eat it every day. Lasagna freezes quite well, so you could even freeze leftovers and reheat them way down the road.0 -

You also want to keep the saturated fat levels low because they are not very healthy either. The Polyunsaturated and Monounsaturated fats are very good for you. Your body needs them to function properly.

Thank you very much for all your replies! I did the Rosemary Connelly diet before and I remember having to eat foods no less that 5% fat per 100g or something so I got really worried when I worked that out!
Thanks for the cottage cheese advice! I love the Dolmio white sauce though and tend to use that, even over my own homemade white sauce, theres just something so yum about it! As a tip, I have also been told that using Campbells condensed chicken soup as a white sauce is great and having tried this I would say it is definitely worth a go!
I do tend to pick off the cheese when eating it! This should help, a little! I am going to enjoy eating it now guilt free!

I dont worry about it. I just stay in my calorie limit and it seems to be working fine, that said I rarely go over my fat limit for a day, sugar is more my nemesis and thats just from fruit.0

I would say that yes, that is a lot of fat. There must be an ingredient you are using that is high in fat.0

Try to find a lower fat cheese; that will lower the far content. I have been looking for better choices for some of my favorite recipes and it can be done.
I had a recipe that the portion size for a reasonable calorie count was way too small. So I used some healthier choices and WALLA I could have a decent portion size with a reasonable calorie count.0
