No calories burned during strength training!?!

How come myfitnesspal won't count strength training as calories burned? Does anyone have an alternate way to adjust for that? I think I may have to get a calorie/heart rate monitor to get this info. I just think its weird, since you are definitely breaking a sweat with moderate training. Any advice?

Type strength training into the cardio tracker. It comes up. You log those calories there. The strength training tracker is just to monitor how often you are doing just that, strength training.

Log it as strength training under the cardio section and you'll be good to go.

Log it under cardio. The strength tracker is for sets and reps etc. Also strength workouts are harder to est cal burn for because the calorie burn doesn't come from your heartrate (a major part of the estimation for cardio workouts)- it comes from a more long term burn of building and maintaining muscle.

If you search "Strength training" under cardiovascular activities, MFP does have an activity for it under that section, but I'm not sure how accurate it is. As far as I can tell, the actual Strength training activity section is meant to track how much you're doing, but not the calories burned. A HRM would track it the most accurately.
