Bangs

So I got bangs today (the last time being when I was around 10), and now I don't want to work out b/c I don't want to mess up the stylists job (figuring my hair won't look this good again till the next time I get it cut, I'm COMPLETELY incompetent hairwise). I'm looking for someone to either give me some tips on keeping my hair looking good and sweat free after workouts (or just motivate me to get over it and get off my butt anyway).

Hey, have fun being the fat girl with cute bangs!
...
That was my tough love.
My bangs get a bobby pin and take a back seat to my health. Priorities, love.0 -
I've never had bangs myself, never had much of a hairstyle come to think of it, which is why I need to ask, how hard would it be to style it back yourself after exercise then washing it afterwards.0

No excuses, you go out there and sweat your heart out...Hair will be fine. :bigsmile:0

buy a sweatband ) you know the ones that they sell that are sorta fuzzy & they have matching wrist ones (though i don't understand the point of them). i had bangs in high school & was a soccer player, so i'd wear the sweatbands under my bangs to keep them from getting sweaty & oily. i hope you love the haircut!0

I'm not sure there's any other option! I finally let mine grow out long enough to tuck back behind my ear, but honestly, if you're kickin a$* and working up a sweat, I have NO idea how you would leave the gym with great hair. I know I never do! I decided that the more sweaty and "undone" my hair looks, the more obvious it is that I worked my tail off!0 -
I actually have been cutting my own bangs for the last few months. Working out won't ruin them. What you need to do is train the hair follicle to grow in the direction of the new bangs. They will look weird for the first couple of weeks. You'll have to deal with them until then. Eventually they will begin to fall beautifully.
Also, when styling with your flat iron, pull the iron in the opposite direction that you want them to hang (assuming that they are side-swept.) Then, push the bangs the correct way with your comb/brush/hand.0 -
I feel your pain. Try to schedule your workouts at a time when you don't have to see people afterwards.
Or
Start doing fun things with your hair. It may look odd, but your confidence will make all the difference.0 -
I wear a headband to keep mine off my face while working out. I sweat like a fiend, so there's no salvaging my hairstyle after the gym.0

I have bangs.... I just look like I got out of the shower when I walk out of the gym.
Pin em back?0 -
I workout before I shower, so it's no big sweat if I completely mess up my bangs! Plus, they always get pinned back during exercise!0

This is too funny! I've been wanting to get bangs so bad lately but this is a concern of mine...what will i do with them when i'm working out!? haha! I hope you find a solution
I'm guessing I'll either go with bobby pins or a head band if I ever get the guts to get the haircut0 -
There are two things I hate seeing at the gym... girls with a full face of makeup and girls with perfect hair! When I leave the gym, my make up is off, my mascara is smeared (i go right from work) and my hair is dripping and all over the place! I may not be pretty, but at least I looked like I worked! So just get over it!!

No matter what you do, your hair will never look the same as it did when you stepped out of the hairdressers chair! So don't worry about it and go on with your workout.0

Ha ha just go work out. Then you get to play around with your hair and get better at it.
I was thinking that I need bangs again but don't want them hanging in my face when I work out.0 -
I used to be completely incompetent with hair as well. The only thing I could do was flat iron it. I couldn't even blow dry it well.... seriously. I never thought I would be able to do anything with my hair but have learned all kinds of things over the past 2 months, and trust me--- it is not near as hard as you think it is!!
Find youtube videos of how to style your hair the way you want, then practice, practice, practice. It sounds crazy but it really helped me. I started doing this 2 months ago and have since learned how to curl my hair (I had never successfully curled my hair before this, and I am 22 years old!), put small waves in it, big waves in it, and add volume to it using only my flat iron.
Check it out! You can totally become hair styling savvy.0
