for the first 20 minutes of running you only burn off glucose or something or other .. so on a 30 minute run, you're only really doing fat burning / cardio / strength for 10 minutes ???

In general it taked about 15-20 minutes of low intensity cardio to really get you into "fat burning" mode. But your body doesn't work on a clock, it works on intensity. That's why you should monitor your heart rate. You don't want to under work, but over working sends your body into "panic" or emergency energy mode. Keep it in your recommended zone.

I dont know about the times, but saw a scientific programme bout exercise and yes when you first start exercising you burn all your cholestrol (i think thats what it is :S) off and once that is gone you start burning fat, but the good news is that once you finish exercising your cholestrol has to build back up so your burning fat just walking aound and making tea etc for quite a while afterwards
