I'm looking to do a cleanse or detox program of some sort but I am really not sure what. I have been working out on a regular basis and have pretty good eating habits but most definitely not the best. I am looking for something to jump start a little extra weight loss and get rid of junk that I have caved into lately. My biggest concern is that I keep my energy up for my three kids and my workout programs I am doing. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

MY suggestion is not to use any store bought product, it's a waste of money. Try a juice fast for a couple of days,it always works for me, just make sure you use actual fruit juice (like the ones in the fruit aisle that are pureed fruit not proceed crap, or use a juicer and make your own). I lost 6lbs in 2 days and cleaned out my system, I am going to try and do them bi-weekly.

Can you tell us exactly how you did that? Did you drink strictly juice for two days? What kind? How much etc.? Thanks!

I agree that the juice is a good idea. I recently did use a product however called Cleanse and Lean from Max Muscle. I liked it a lot and did lose some pounds from it. Here is a link if you'd like to check it out..

    Good luck finding something! :)

So you would just drink natural fruit juice & no food for one day? & this is fasting?

I dont have any specific recommendations.. but my advice would be to stay away from any sort of liquid-only "fast". (this includes juice fasting, water-only fasting, etc). Those aren't healthy.. your body needs food. And if you're doing a liquid diet, you won't have any energy!

    Research carefully! :flowerforyou:

I drink juice and water and peppermint tea for two days, I have IBS and I find sometimes it's the only way to get things going. The first day is rough but by the second day I feel really good!
I wouldn't suggest doing it for more then two days and I definitely wouldn't suggest trying to fast without the juice(you do need some nutrients) I also take extra vitamins while I'm doing it.
To be completely honest 4lbs of the pounds I lost were most likely water weight that I had gained on the weekend but even not thinking about the loss I always feel SO much better after a fast!.

i did the 10 day advocare cleanse about 6 weeks ago. i lost 5 lbs and kept it off. i like this cleanse because you're not in the bathroom all day and you can eat on it. it focuses on eating clean proteins, limited complex carbs and lots of fruits and veggies. i was never hungry on it. i plan to do it again in a couple of weeks.

Definitly do your research but I had no problems with energy and the nutrients from the juice are enough for a couple of days. I read a lot about juice fasting before I did it though and I would suggest you do the same!
We eat way more then we need to these days and our body actually benefits from taking a break from it all, I'm not talking about starving yourself though, you need to be really careful with how you do it!

Several friends of mine did this and they all said it was great. Now 1 of my friends sells the products. I have not tried it yet, I heard it was a little expensive??

I've done a lot of research in the past and discovered that it's definitely not for me :frown: But I think it's great that it works for others!! I'm still on the hunt for a cleanse that doesn't involve food-fasting. (I've tried the pills in the past.. they worked a bit TOO well... that'll clear you out for sure! lol!)

before i first started with mfp i used a sea salt cleanse. You mix 2tbs. sea salt with 1liter of water. Drink, no chug it on empty stomach first thing in morning when you have time to be home cuz it last about two hours and begins within 30-45 min. its hard to drink cuz its so salty, i kind of gagged but i did it. and it worked, won't go into details but when your done everything is cleaned out. it didn't hurt like stomach ache or anything, and you only have to do it once. if you like, once a month. search it on net and then decide if its for you.

Wouldn't that cause a massive amount of salt/water retention in your body & thus, the toxins to stay in? Can you suggest a couple links? Never heard of this, but I like all natural-no-fasting cleanses so I'm curious. Thanks!

some how your body doesn't absorb the sea salt cuz its not like regular table salt. do not use regular salt! and there is no water retention cuz it all comes out, its a flush. the sea salt is grainy so as it goes through your body it brings everything with it. use the grey or beige colored salt the more natural the better.
