Wish us luck

Okay here's our story in a nut shell. My hubby and I would have liked to have more kids. We have 3, but we really wanted more. I had terrible problems when I was pregnant and was told that I shouldn't have any more, because I would never be able to carry to term. My first 3 were early. Savannah,#1, was 3 weeks early, Mirandah, #2, was 4 weeks early and Branigan,#3, was 5 weeks early. With Branigan I actually started labor at 22 weeks and was on bed rest the entire last 13 weeks I was pregnant. I was actually on two different meds to keep me from having him early and finally they quit working and he was born 2 weeks earlier than they wanted him to be born. It was similar storeys with my girls. We would love to adopt over seas, but way too expensive for us to even think about.
Well my husband and I have taken classes to become foster parents. We actually took them last spring, but the agency we are going through has been kind of pokey on getting paper work pushed through. Then we moved. Any way we are getting our house inspected tonight so that we can get approved to be foster parents. It just seems like this process is taken forever. Also they took my finger prints in May and they weren't clear enough so I have to have them redone tonight (which that takes about a month to get back). Any way we are hoping to have some new family members soon. We are really looking forward to helping out some families, and we would also consider adopting a child if that was a possibility. So wish us luck.
And we would be greatful for any prayers.

Good luck Anna - I will be happy to pray for a larger family for you in whatever way God intends for you to have it!0

My neighbors went through the foster system in an attempt to adopt. Hopefully you'll have much better luck than they did. The did get to foster 3 beautiful children & still keep in contact with one of them but it became too emotional for their entire family. Best of luck! There aren't enough good people out there that are willing to foster.

My sister is a foster parent...very rewarding, although there is a very complicated situation that goes with, but she loves it and wouldn't have it any other way. I wish you luck, thoughts and prayers:flowerforyou:0

Best of luck to you. I would love to be a foster parent and eventually I will be but I have to have a house first and one big enough to accomodate extra kids. I think it's great that you are willing to open your home and your heart to kids in bad situations. My uncle and his wife have 6 kids of their own, 4 of which have grown and are out of the house, just adopted the 3 foster kids that they have had in their home for over a year.0

kudos to you. Their are so many kids out their that need a good loving home. I know you will be very blessed. I hope when my cildren are older that I can do this as well. Our neighbors are foster parents to some teenagers and they are often at my house. I love them and see their struggles and my heart really goes out to kids that can't have what the rest of us have, a loving family. You really are giving a gift. HH:flowerforyou:0

i don't know about the State you live in, but in florida you can adopt a child through the state and its free(except for a few minimal fees for court doc, etc.), the state even pays for their health care, sometimes you get extra money monthly from the state and best of all the child gets free tuition to any college of his or her choice in the state of florida...... I am only 23 and i can't wait until we are able to adopt, the state prefers you to be older. i want kids of my own of course but i also REALLY REALLY want to adopt. you should check about adopting through your state....0

Nebraska has a huge need for foster parents and now that they put in act a law that you can just drop off your kids, no questions asked, there is more of a need. The law came about to protect infants and small children from a situation that may be abusive. You know a mom can't handle the crying and doesn't know what to do. So now instead of shaking the baby to stop the crying (this is just an example). She can take them to a hospital and leave them and they become wards of the state. Well this has kind of back fired. Last month 17 kids were dropped off at hospitals in the state, ranging from 1 year to 17 years old. It's just crazy.0

Way to go, Anna!!
My wife & I have three daughters (17 to 22) & are foster parents to two teenagers. It was my wife's lifelong dream to do this. She was the motivation to begin with but now I'm fully on board. It is a challenge to be sure but we are loving it.
The need is great here in Michigan , as well. We have had to turn away so many. It breaks our hearts. Many, many more people like you are desperately needed, Anna! Way to go!!

I am glad that you are going to be a foster parent but just beware. I was actually adopted at the age of 8 with my sister and then 4 years later my parents adopted 4 more kids and they had 4 of their own. The reason why I say be careful is that you already have 3 beautiful kids. Most of the children in foster care come with alot of baggage. Just make sure you watch them around the children that you currently have. I am not trying to change your mind .and I am forever grateful to my parents who adopted me but we were in a foster home where there was some sexual abuse and then the other 4 children were sexually abused as children also and then when they came into our family some of it was reacted out. Just be careful for the sakes of your children.

You can adopt them here also. But it is something we are not going to jump into. The timing and everything has to be right.0 -

Thanks for the warning Connie. I know this is so true. We already told them that until our children are older, we will only take in pre-school age kids. I know that they can also have tons of baggage, but being younger than my kids will help them. Our kids already have great value systems. And we have talked to them that many of the kids that may come to our home will be "hurt" in some way. And that we are there to help them heel. And that alot of times people have touched them where they shouldn't have been touched, but no matter what that is not acceptable in our home. Our kids are so well rounded and well adjusted that I think they will be able to handle whatever comes our way. But if I feel they are ever threatened I will have the problem removed.
When our kids are grown I would love to just take in teen girls. I really feel that my calling is to someday help troubled teen girls.0
