Smoothies With Veggies - Help me!

Hey MFP's! Happy Wednesday.
Okay, so I have been on a smoothie kick recently. Usually I'll mix some protein powder and fruit or something. This morning though, I decided to try putting carrots in my smoothie to see how it would taste. You see, I'm not a big veggie fan. I'm always thinking of ways to make my veggies more bearable. I was so happy to discover that I couldn't even taste the carrots. YAY!
So now, I want to know. Do you have any smoothie recipes that include veggies? Please let me know. I want to try it!
Thanks!

Try adding green granny smith apples with some fresh baby spinach leaves, its delicious. I hate veggies too!0

I always put raw spinach in my protein shakes. If you add bananas and milk or grapes, you don't taste the spinach. It looks like sludge, but it tastes all right. For my chocolate protein, I just do instant coffee, milk, and spinach, because I find the chocolate too sweet.0

I like to use Fresh Frozen Spinach.....I freeze fresh spinach......it lasts longer and is a great vitamin B source. It makes the smoothie look darker and green, but the taste is actually good, to me anyway and you get some serious nutrition! Also add some celery for a unique and fresh flavor. Carrots are great for vitamin A for your eye health, just remember though they are higher in sugar content.0

Green Monster
Vanilla protein powder
1/2 c milk
1/2 c water
1 banana
Fill the blender to the top with spinach (usually 4-5 c)
Blend until smooth. It's really much more delicious than it sounds since you can't taste the spinach at all over the flavors of the vanilla protein powder and banana!0 -
I LOVE smoothies.
Try this one:
Kale
cucumber slices
Lots of mango
Half an apple
Sunflower seeds0 -
Yea, spinach was going to be what I was going to say. It turns your smoothie GREEN! but you can't really taste it as long as you have plenty of other good tasting fruits, etc... in it.0

I make my smoothie with spinach (I freeze mine also), kale leaves (without the spine), an orange, and an apple (sometimes pineapple) strawberries and banana (sometimes) I never taste the veggies but I know they are there for my health! Blueberries make it brown!0

Great recipes in general here .... http://ohsheglows.com/
The woman who started the OhSheGlows website does all sorts of great smoothies that she calls "Green Monsters" she even made a website just for all the recipes... http://greenmonstermovement.com/
My personal go to one that I always use after lots of trials is:
1 cup almond milk
1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder
1 TBLP of ground flax seeds
(sometimes if I need the extra cals I'll ad a scoop of peanut butter also)
1 cup raw spinach
1 cup frozen blackberries (sometimes I do blueberries instead).
blend and enjoy!!! mmmm0 -
I love smoothies!! Here is my favorite Green Morning smoothie:
Kale, 2-3 leaves or spinach
1 tablespoon almond butter
1 banana
1/2 cup or more frozen blueberries
ground flax seed
1 cup or more 100% carrot juice (hard to find unless you have Trader Joe's near by)
I like the kale because every so often you crunch into one, but I like veggies so maybe that is just me.0 -
i use fresh spinach, blueberries and strawberries, a banana or apple, flaxseed, almond milk, and you can add some splenda if you are worried about sweetness. you dont taste the spinach but you get really full and tons of fiber/vitamins. i also throw in a chewable vitamin c tablet sometimes, just to make sure im getting plenty.0

Several years ago, Dr. Oz made a guest appearance on Oprah and made her a "green smoothie". She said it tasted like a glass of "fresh". I'd say that's pretty accurate. When he demonstrated it on the show he used a blender but you could tell it had been filtered when it was in the glass. Anyway, I have this every morning before my workout (before breakfast). I don't strain or filter it and it is pretty thick, but it tastes great and really gets me going.
1 stalk celery
1 inch piece fresh ginger, peeled
1/4 granny smith apple
1/4 of a cucumber, peeled
1/4- 1/2 lemon, peeled
1/4- 1/2 lime, peeled
1 big handful of fresh baby spinach
4 nice green romaine lettuce leaves
1 tbls. raw honey
1 cup filtered water
1 scoop vanilla protein powder, if desired
Put all in a blender and blend until smooth, about 2 minutes or so.
Usually I will chop enough at one time to last 4 days and store them in baggies in the fridge. Then in the morning I jsut dump in a baggie of veggies and add the spinach, lettuce and remaining ingredients.0 -

YES YES YES!!!!
These smoothie recipes are amazing! I can't wait to try them all. Keep them coming!0 -
Definitely saving these for later, I never seem to eat enough vegetables.0

I've found that if you use a strong flavoured fruit juice for the base I can put in stuff like spinach, broccoli, peppers and never taste it. I use 100% black cherry juice, spinach, broccoli, peppers, frozen strawberries for making it cold and thick and some chocolate whey powder for protein.
My friend also used pineapple juice, same reasoning, strong flavour.0 -
YUM I'm saving this for later too!!0

Celery! I put celery in berry smoothies, or peanut butter/banana smoothies. We never actually taste it. I feel so sneaky and smart when I put celery in my kids' smoothies since they have no idea that they are getting a serving of vegetables at breakfast! Celery is a good source of vitamin B6, dietary fiber, vitamin c, vitamin k and folate!0

here is one of my favorites that packs a great punch:
2 bananas, frozen
2 HUGE handfuls spinach
1 cup soymilk
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon honey or agave nectar
Add all ingredients into a blender. Blend until mixed. Serve in tall glasses and enjoy.0 -
Ooooh! That sounds soooo good! Thank you!0

Good morning! Thank you all for your suggestions. This morning I managed to pack in spinach, carrots and celery into my smoothie and I couldn't even taste them! You all are great!0
