So I just started this diet yesterday on a whim, I have no idea what I am doing. I feel like I cant eat anything. I have been eating apples, bananas, pita bread with hummus and some peanuts to stay in my 1,200 calories a day. Please help if you have any ideas or recipes that are easy. I am a stay at home mom, have 2 young children so preferably something they would eat too. My only problem is I don't like anything that belongs under the water (fish) LOL.
Please help, thanks a bunch

Aim to minimise the bad fats and sodium (salt) otherwise reasonable portions of anything are okay...

I started the Eat Clean lifestyle, and I love it. I eat all day and still hit my calories..not perfect yet, but doing alright. You can check it out here. www.eatcleandiet.com Bascially, you eat food as close to its natural state as possible and cut out the processed.

Do you have a health food store near you? I buy a lot of children's real fruit snacks to keep on hand when I'm in a hurry or so hungry I feel like I'll eat badly. Things like that might be helpful to have around for your kids... might make "mommy's new lifestyle" a fun way for them to pick up healthy eating habits as well!

I've gotten a lot of good recipes from campbellskitchen.com. I just look for meals that are under 600 calories and 20 grams of fat per serving. (make sure you look at serving size. if the serving size is only 1 cup i make sure it's 300 calories or 10 grams of fat because i will eat twice the serving size, or elce still be hungry)
  • That is a really good idea, Yeah I have a whole foods and trader joes by me. I will have to look into that. Thanks
  • Also due consider that you might need to change your calorie in take. I had to change mind and I'm doing much better because of it. Also remember, you are trying to improve not just your weight but your life. It's okay to have that chocolate cake once in a great while. You dont have to tell yourself "no" to everything, just try to find the healthier choice for a meal before you have the unhealthy option. And having support is a big key, if you have good people cheering you on; you can make it much farther. Never get down on yourself, just learn how to do better.

    You can do it.

EatingWell.com has tons of meal plans and recipes, including 500 calorie dinners. It's my favorite website for healthy eating inspiration.
