Almost 30 and engaged!

In less than a year now I turn 30 and on New Years Eve I got engaged. Yay me (well the engaged part anyways) What I'm really not too happy about is the fact that over the past 4 years I've gained about 40 pounds, granted I do drive bus for a living so I'm sure that doesn't help.
I'm not just looking for a quick fix diet for when my "big day arrives", but I would like to lose these 40 pounds that I put on by the time I turn 30, (March 2012). I'm not getting married yet for a couple years, but I also do not want to be this size when I go wedding dress shopping.
I'm just happy a friend of mine introduced me to this site, and most recently I downloaded the app for my Black Berry. It's so easy and so versatile, better than Weight Watchers point system, and its free to boot
Just wanted to say hi to everyone out there! Feel free to give me a shout back

Congratulations on your engagement! Ironically I am looking to lose about 40 lbs by or before March 1, 2012..., my 40th birthday. You and I should challenge each other since we are working on the same goal in the same time line. Are you up for it?0

Congratulations on both your engagement and also the decision to be healthy. You are starting a lot younger than I did. I just joined this group 12 days or so ago. I am a 40 something..mother of 3 and finally decided to get rid of the "baby weight" I never lost. My first goal is to lose 15 pounds by the summer..and would LOVE to lose 25 to 30..by my "big birthday" in a year and a half!
Anyway...start with small changes..no more fast food, drink water 24/7, and just move more...as you read the posts and log your food you will feel motivated to continue your journey.
Best of luck and feel free to "friend me" :flowerforyou:0 -

Congrats on your engagment! It doesnt have to be your reason to lose the weight, but what a great motivator! I am trying to lose the baby weight....but my kids are 4 and a 1/2 and 16 months....I didnt expect it would take this long..before I had kids, weight wasnt an issue, but Im that much older now! I also love this site and I actually look forward to completing my diary at the end of the day!!! Good luck to you!0

Welcome. This site has been so much help for me in only the almost 3 weeks I've been here =] I have already lost some weight but for me it was actually about getting the right amount of calories for the exercise that I do. I was never quite feeding my body the right amount because it does change from day to day depending on how much you burn each day during your work outs. The program I'm doing recommended around 1800 but really I need anywhere from 1850 to over 2000 calories on some days.
Congrats on your engagement!! And good luck on your journey, I'm sure this site will help and there is lots of support =]0 -
YAY for you Crystal!! Im so happy you love this site just as much as I do!!
Dont worry hun...we'll loose this weight together and look absolutely FAB in bikinis!!0 -
Thanks everyone for the kind words! It's nice to come to a place and have the support of wonderful people! I do believe this will be super benefical for me and something I can actually stick to.\
Between working out for 90 mins at the Y and watching what I eat, and having the support of the people I have met on here thus far, I believe I can achieve my goals. It also helps that my fiance is on this site too, because he wants to lose some weight also0
