Anything you can do with dumb bells will work your arms really well. I do a combination of arm exercises to keep them strong and toned. Great exercises are:
bench press
bicep curls
tricep curls
These work the major muscles of your arms and also keep your pecs in firm condition too.1 -
^ also:
seated rows
bent over rows
shoulder presses
tricep kickbacks
lateral raises
push ups
All of these strengthen your arms, shoulders and back.1 -
Instead of doing isolation moves for your arms, try concentrating on compound (multi-joint) lifts. These will not only work your arms, but also work your chest, back and/or shoulders as well.
Examples of upper-body compound movements include:
-bench press
-barbell row
-dips
-pullups
-flyes
Each of these not only can be done with free weights, but you can also use dumbbells, machines or cables to get the same effect. It should be noted, though, that working with barbells and dumbbells with engage more stabilizer muscles, particularly in the core, in order to keep yourself stable throughout the lift.0
