I have recently joined MFP and have been exercising religiously for 2 1/2 months now. For about the past 2-3 weeks, the scale has NOT BUDGED!! It is very disheartening and really brings me down! I work out 2 hours, 5 days a week usually and burn anywhere between 1100 to 1500 calories. I eat all my calories except the ones that I earn back from working out. I guess I just don't get why the weight isn't coming off :( Any suggestions?

Am I reading this right??? You burn 1100-1500 calories a day but don't eat back any of those calories??? If that's correct that is most likely why you are not losing. You need to eat back most of those calories, you need to net 1200 calories a day (for the most part) and you're probably not anywhere near that.

I eat most of them, just not all of them - because it ends up being close to 3000 calories a day. I do Zumba (which burns an average of 900 a class, 3 days a week & then Body Pump which is between 400-500 calories a class). I guess what I need to do is eat more during the day. I guess I feel like I'm eating way to often. I'll try eating my exercise calories and see if it helps!! Thanks guys!

Bingo. Read the two links in my signature for some additional info on that but if you aren't eating any of your burnt calories, you aren't giving your body enough fuel. Eat more!!!!

Hey hun...do you have a HRM? I wonder if you are guessing too high on cals burned and therefore eating too much...but if you're not eating all the cals back, then maybe that theory is wrong.

Are you eating a lot of the same foods? Sometimes our bodies get used to what we're eating as well...maybe switch up your food intake a bit.

I've been holding steady at the same weight for 3-4 weeks now but my problem is I'm cheating now and then. This week I've behaved a lot more - LOL.

Feel free to add me if you want support!! :flowerforyou:

I heard Zumba burns 400-900 cals, I use 450 cals, bc I not that heavy and it doesn't look like you are either. Yes you should have close to 0 cals at the end of the day..

I understand I feel like I am eating alot and especially on days I work out and I still have too many calories left to eat but I don't know about you but defintily speaking for myself it just made me realize how much crap I use to eat. So we basically just need to eat up, just the right things. I know I use to have a few meals but very bad food, so now I am trying to eat more often through out the day which is of course hard to do if you work like myself (I can't even imagine what working mothers do). Keep trying though we can all reach our goals together!!!!!!!

Yes, I do have a HRM. I'm one of those people who bounce around all over the place during Zumba lol, so I know I'm melting some fat.... it just doesn't show it on the scale!

Then you are just working out a ton and probably gaining some new muscle and toning up. Good for you! I'd give it another week or two and see how it looks on the scale. Are you measuring yourself? if not, you should start for sure. During times when the scale doesn't move, grab that tape measurer and see the results that way. You'll be shocked and how awesome you feel regardless of what the scale says. Good luck!
