I was just thinking! 97% of my family lives OUTSIDE of Nevada (where I live)! We will all being getting together in July which will be the first time that some of my family has seen me since Summer 2010 or Thanksgiving! I started MFP on Christmas Eve and barely any of them have seen me from then til now, and not alot of them know that I am even attempting to lose weight. I want it to be a complete SHOCK to them when they see me this summer! I don't post anything about dieting or working out on Facebook or Twitter and I wear sweats to hide the weight I've lost when anyone in my family visits. Does anyone else hide their weight to surprise someone else? And do you know any other ways to hide it until it's time to show it off? haha It's going to be like The Biggest Loser finale!

That sounds like fun! I hope your family falls over with shock when they see you! What a neat idea!

I live quite near most of my family, but we still don't see each other much. Hadn't seen my Mom since Christmas until last Saturday and she did notice... called me skinny even!!! That was nice, because she's not always flattering to me.. but she was really impressed, and that made me feel SO good!

Good luck with your transformation.. and knock 'em dead!!!

I definitely hide it, but I'm doing it for the wrong reason. I'm hiding it in case I fail. I've tried to lose weight in the past and failed. I don't want this to be another failed attempt everyone knows about!!

I thought about that too! I even saw a whole thread of people asking what happens AFTER they reach their goal weight and don't need MFP anymore. Honestly, I'm going to use MFP to maintain my weight. I'll probably log on a read/ reply to threads, messages, and things like that, but I'll keep doing all the calorie counting from the app on my phone!

You've lost 13 pounds already! It looks like you're doing pretty well to me! :) Stay strong!!! Support is a HUGE deal in weight loss! My family still buys triple chocolate cake and vanilla bean ice cream and fries porkchops and smothers them in gravy  , but I go to the store and get a TON of fruit, vegetables, and a bunch of healthy things that I can snack on when the good smell of that BAD food starts to get to me! Everyone on here is such a big help by sharing tips, boosting your spirit, and inspiring you to keep going! You can do it!

I see my family at least once a month so they still notice when I do lose weight ( and even think i'm losing weight when i'm not lol) but it's not a huge shock, I did think about how awesome that would be though . Have fun shocking the fam!

That's part of the reason why I want to shock them. I was 209 and went up to 217 and when they saw me, they were like "Oooo, you lost weight, huh?" and I'm like yeahhh they're totally just saying that to make me feel better about myself, when in fact it was making me feel worse! This time, I actually that "weight loss" that they see to be REAL and HUGE! I should be in the 150's when they see me. I wonder how that looks on a person that's 5'5"!

I'm hiding it too. I've actually become a recluse since I started MFP. I wasn't that big before and I didn't want people trying to talk me out of it. I didn't want them to watch me order or measure food. I'm a bit obsessed but I don't want people to know I am. I'm afraid they will think I have a problem... and I don't. I'm just determined. I don't hide my loss so now when they see me they know. Most end up saying, "don't lose anymore Stephanie!" Whatever....

My goal weight is 120lbs. I weighed in at 123.5 today so I'm not far off... I don't want to be 'skinny' I want to be ripped!!! The leaner I get the more muscle I see!

I hid it for the first 90 days. Then I needed to go visit my brand daughters and the cat was out of the bag. I won't see them for another 4 months, so they should REALLY be surprised then.

I hide the fact that I am trying to lose weight, but only because I have tried and failed so many times, so I don't want anyone to know in case that happens again. I know, not a very good attitude to have! I like why you are hiding it though, and I think it will be awesome for your family and friends to see you when you reveal how much weight you have lost!
