What size cup.....

is a cup ??

on the food diary bit, it often offers a cup as a portion size - now I am aware this is an American measurement so could someone please tell me what sort of size cup it is - thanks.

    8 oz is a cup. I have no idea what that is in grams (you'll have to do the math :) )

    I think they a US cup is 250ml - but I was in Asda the other day and they have a set of measuring cups for baking in cups and half cups. Might be worth a look. Otherwise I tend to think of a teacup size!

    It depends! We have two different types of cups in the US. Both are volume measurements.

    Dry foods are measured in one sort of cup, while liquids are measured in another. Liquids are 8oz per cup.

    Dry foods are more accurately measured by weight. Many times you will see a weight (usually in grams) next to the Cup portion size. Weight tends to be a more accurate measure.

    250ml, but my cups at home are 200ml and my mugs are more than 250ml , so use a 250ml measure as a cup.
