My first NSV (plus two) after 37 pounds

My mom noticed my weight loss.

Yes, I know. She's my mom and has to notice these things.

Except, my mom is a runner, weighs under 110 pounds (she's a tiny person) of pure muscle, eats perfectly, and although she is loving and supportive she has some fat and body image issues of her own. She has said hurtful things about my weight (largely unintentional) and mostly just pretended not to notice it for fear of hurting me even more.

She finally let me know she has noticed my weight loss for a few weeks but didn't want to say anything because she didn't want me to think she was "monitoring my weight". She said it was getting so noticeable there was no way she could NOT say anything.

That is the big one.

The other two are just icing on the cake.

A guy at the gym tapped me on the shoulder and told me that he thinks I am doing a great job and that the results are showing. He is outlandishly fit and had never said so much as boo before today, so it was startling and made me feel great.

A woman I used to work with said she had to do a "double-take" to make sure it was me because I looked so much thinner.

I was struggling with not being able to see any difference and feeling pretty defeated. These events (all within this week) gave me the boost I need to fight the good fight and keep getting healthy.

These are some great accomplishments! It makes me feel good to know I have something to look forward to. I actually was just thinking today, 'Man, I have lost 22 pounds and NO one notices a difference... that kind of sucks!' I guess the magic number is 37! LOL I am on my way! I hope by the time I have lost almost 37 pounds someone says something about my weight loss! LOL Anyhow- Thanks for posting, I really think it helped me. And CONGRATS on all your success.

you don't see the results because you see your self everyday so it is gradual. same when you have children, you don't see the changes in babies til you look at a pic a month or two old and its startling. Keep up the great work!!!!

Thanks, everyone! I want to offer my own congratulations on your amazing weight loss, seeing all those tickers is inspiring!

@THISisTARRAN: First, 22 pounds is a great accomplishment and I know full well how much work it takes to get there. When I was at around 22 pounds I felt the same way. My partner didn't notice, I couldn't see a difference and I had put in so much sweat and hard work into that loss that I started to worry about when I would see a difference. You WILL get there and people WILL notice.

I also want to say that although people just started noticing a visual difference, I have been feeling better and better for weeks. Perhaps that was a NSV I missed because I was so obsessed with, well...the scale.

Good for you for not getting too discouraged for not noticing the changes you are making. And doesn't make you feel great when you get positive reinforcements from other people. The guy at the gym, in my opinion, is the best becaue it is a total stranger giving your encouraging words.

    Keep it up!!
