The Journey Begins (again)

I'm a 35 year old married father of 3. I have had a weight issue since middle school, and at only one point since was i below 200 lbs. (havent been there since i was 20). At one point i even won a weight loss contest at my job. but it always comes back.

In January my weight peaked at 315lbs. more than i have ever weighed in my life. So i stopped eating carbs, (which is the only success i have ever had) and dropped 15, then plateaued for a month. kicked around other plans, and researched other diets. and also toyed with the idea of WW. (i cant justify paying for that). I came across another site that just spelled it out so easy, its almost dumb. Eat 500 calories less than your body needs, and work out. it cant be that easy, Can it?

So we joined a gym closer to home. (close enough i see it everyday). I'm 3 weeks into regularly going to the gym, I am feeling better, haven't lost a ton more weight, but down a little. This week was my first week in charting everything on this site, counting calories, and seeing how much my Coffee (it's really the cream) is actually adding to my total. I've been stalking the forums all week and decided i need to post to be involved. More motivation. More support, More people in the same situation as i am.

So here i am, a bit fitter, a bit lighter(small bit), and a ton more motivation. This time is different. This time its for me. (Cheesy, I know)

(for some reason, i add a lot of parenthesis when i write anything, i don't know why, i just do :-))

Welcome aboard! I hope you find this site as helpful as I do. You can do this.
  • Congrats on restarting the journey! :)
  • Welcome and thank you for sharing with us. I too had thought about WW but when I went to a "free" meeting to see what it was about, they wouldn't let me attend or ask questions without paying. Well, I'm not that kind of consumer so I left and starting searching the net. I found MFP and so far I love it! I would dare say that 99% of us have stopped and started on our way to better health many times so you're definitely not alone there! Good to meet you.
