Are they absolutely terrible for you? Should you never eat them, I had one today that was 300 cal. I know there high in sodium...but anything else to know about frozen low cal meals? Does anyone eat them

I read a magazine article in one of my magazines that said frozen meals like lean cuisine are find as far as calorie, but because of the sodium you can retain fluid making you maintain that weight plus too much sodium can actually make it harder to lose weight. I tend to steer clear from the frozen foods that are pre-made (like frozen dinners and such).0

so its kind of like an an oxy moron?! cause you retain all the weight with the salt??? lame0

I've been having one every week day for work lunches. (saved enough codes for the cute lunch bag)
I know they are high in sodium, but its a much better alternative than grabbing unplanned fast food.
Plus I watch sodium the rest of the day.
For now, while I am working on shedding many many pounds, I am giving myself liberty for them.

........lol sodium and weight loss dont have much to do with eachother, ive asked around and it seems like its really only about your heart health. if you work out though your hearts gonna be fine lol, check with a genetics doctor maybe? see if you have issues with high blood pressure but if you dont i think youll be okay
lol i get frustrated with the huge concern in sodium because i honestly feel like i dont understand whats so horrible about it. ive looked up articles but some of them actually said the only thing wrong with high sodium diets are because they are linked with high fats
but if your smart (like me) then they dont link up at all
i dont watch my sodium but i dont always like frozen dinners because i can never get full from them :-(
dont take my word for it though please, im still unsureish0 -
I keep them on hand at home and work for days I haven't planned well and need a lunch. I used to grab fast food on those days so I see the Lean Cuisine as a HUGE improvement over that. I do try to make some Cooking Light recipes on the weekend for lunches but things don't always go as planned.0

I eat them. I love them.
Like the previous poster said, it's better than fast food and it's inexpensive.
I also enjoy Healthy Choice steamed varieties.
I am a single mother of twins and I work full time so I have no time to prepare my own stir fry and other healthy foods.
So, I eat these at least twice a week for lunch and once a week for dinner.
I also do as the other poster suggested and watch the sodium in my other foods. I liberally use pepper with no salt.0 -

Exactly. I wouldn't eat them all the time, but I have them in the freezer at work so that I can eat that instead of go grab something worse. On occasion when I'm being lazy at home, I add more protein (few cubes or tofu, dice up a boca patty) or fresh veggies (steamed broccoli, sauteed spinach, etc) so that I still have a mostly healthy meal. What's great is that I don't have to season the stuff I add because there is often enough sauce in the lean cuisine for the added foods. Putting that extra sodium to good use! And then drink an extra glass of water, lol! :laugh:0 -

Agree!!! And just drink tons of water to counteract the extra sodium! Still far better than a McD's (or any other fast food) meal of any sort w/ high fat/high sodium!!!0 -
I love them!! I usually have one a couple times a week. They have a good breakfast panini too . It's has a maple flavored bread. mmmmm0

I use Lean Cuisine and have no problem with it. I think, like someone said earlier, just watch your sodium the rest of the day.0

I like healthy choice cafe steamers. They are low cal, filling and has the least amount of sodium of all other frozen meals. I usually eat one for lunch and/or dinner to keep me on track during the weekends when I am not able to cook.0

dont eat them 3 meals aday and youll be fine0

High sodium intake is linked to many more things other than heart disease.

They are also full of chemicals, things like MSG, nitrates, high fructose corn syrup, modified food starch and tons of stuff you can't pronounce. A general rule of thumb, if you can't pronounce it, it probably isn't good for you.0

I think Lean Cuisine meals/Smart ones, ETC are convenient, but they dont fill me up...And for the price (almost $2.00 per meal)...I could get more for less...
For convenience, I LOVE progresso lite soups...The sodium is debatable, but at least it fills me up more.0
