BMR/calorie question

Hi -

I have read a few posts (here and on other heath-related sites) that suggest essentially to 'just eat to your BMR number" to arrive at the average deficit we need to lose weight. To most of you out there, does that sound like a good number to start from (rather than the basic 1200)? For my current weight, it would be starting from 1326. I know it's not a big difference, but 130ish calories, IS 130ish calories over time! Just looking for experiences and/or suggestions.

Thanks much!

If I read things correctly, you only have 10 pounds to lose. Eating your BMR would be a good way to lose it. You may want to lose it quickly, but it will be better for you to lose is slower. Eating at BMR will probably do that.

I'm eating right around my BMR calories. My current BMR (per MFP) is 1855 and my daily cal goal is 1850. I've met with a nutritionist and she recommended similar numbers. I'm working out 4x per week and am steadily losing. I know as I lose weight I'll need to decrease my calories as my BMR decreases.

It's working for me...I'm losing and am never hungy. Everyone's different though, so you may have to experiment until you find something that you can maintain and works for you.
