Any thoughts on ONE sore calf?

So I've been doing the shred for 6 days, with one skipped so today will be L1D5 for me. Last week after three days I had to break b/c my right calf muscle was soo sore I was limping a little. It's so curious to me that both aren't esp since it's my right side which I am usually stronger and more cooridated with...Even after interval run/walking...and killing the ellipitcal...cardio kickboxing..all of the other activities I've done to lose 45 lbs over the last 6-7 months never has made me sore...it's getting a little sore again today. I stretch before and after and thru the day when I feel it being sore...just odd. Hmpf.

I don't know the answer, but I woke up with one sore calf today...weird.0 -
I've been having the same problem, but mine results from a few things I've noticed. First, I'm very prone to hyperextending my one leg. When I started to pay attention, I actually noticed I stand and push the knee on that leg back. It's also the leg I pivot on when I lift weights. I've been lifting weights (and doing cardio) without shoes, and I'm naturally flat-footed, so I'm sure that's causing the problem.
I've also noticed when I'm extremely inactive (sitting around most of the day) my legs will ache. When I move around, when I exercise and use the muscles, they are okay. I sit at my computer in funny positions too, with my legs tucked under and whatnot. Doing that for 2 hours straight does not help the situation at all.
So I'm guessing you are favouring that leg more when you work out, or using it more, and that's why it's sore.0 -
Yeah I work an office job but I'm constantly up and down. I guess I am standing wrong...the only thing I don't like about Level one in the shred is she doesn't explain all of the stances for lunges in details and what not...I'm not new to working out..i just haven't done all of what the shred does...siiiigh. I'll live I suppose0

im guessing its a calf strain/ calf pull. EXACTLY the same thing happened to me a few wks back w my right calf. I was working out alot one week and attended more excercise classes at the gym that week than usual and all of a sudden one day my calf started to hurt really really bad and it was pretty hard to walk on. when i would lay down and get off of it for awhile and then get back up, i would really feel it and would limp real bad! there were no visual signs of swelling or bruising or anything like that, it just hurt really bad.. I thought maybe I sprained it or something and i act was about to make a dr apt to get it looked at but i ended up googling it and it most def sounded like what i had was a calf strain/calf pull. all the syptoms matched up. a day later, the pain was pretty much gone. it says it can take a wk or two for it to heal itself and the best thing to do if thats what u got is to try to keep it elevated and keep ice on it as much as u can and rest and keep off of it and limit your physical activity till it gets better. basically its caused from over-working it and it gets strained and some muscle fibers actually tear and it takes a lil bit of time for it to heal itself and b back to normal again. thats what i went through and your issue sounds pretty much like the same thing i went thru...0

I had the same thing happen to me when I started working out more regularly. I overdid it by not giving myself a day off. Once the pain got nearly unbearable, I gave myself TWO days off to recover. The third day, I just did light exercise. It seemed to do the trick. You could very well be straining/ pulling the calf muscle. If that's the case and it doesn't get enough time to repair between workouts, you could tear it. A torn calf muscle (depending how bad) can sideline you for a really long time.0
